"Seven" is Thomas Bergersen's first symphony and his largest work to date. A massive undertaking and the result of over 4 years of writing.
It follows the journey of a human being, from birth to the end of the line as it ponders the meaning of life, spiritualism, religion, mathematics, science, evolution, love, anger, passion and mystery in music. The word "Seven" relates to the number's significance in our cultural, historical, mythical, theological and mathematical contexts and is referenced musically throughout the Symphony.
Deliverance
New life. A bright new star in the universe, destined for greatness. Destined to make a difference. Protected like the most precious gift it is. The gift of life. An unconditional bond of love is forged as a family is created.
Big Life
Meeting the world in awe of its seemingly infinite possibilities, youthful adventures, explorations, fates and enchantments of beauty that lie ahead. We are but eyes to a small part of the universe. Insignificantly diminutive, yet infinitely magnificent.
Eyes Wider
As ones impression of earth fades, our attention turns to the other side. Love, loss, romance, hate, tragedy, greed, lust. Emotions that make us human, make us feel alive.
You Were My Forever
As happiness is but fleeting moments, so is sadness and anger. But just as love can be persistent, so can grief. Letting go is the hardest part. We remember our most dearly loved ones as holding the keys to our hearts. Some of us are never able to unlock it again, yet glimmers of hope, light and the unexplainable give clues to a much greater whole. Perhaps a great secret yet to be unravelled?
The Stars Are You and Me
An infinite universe of stars. Billions. I wonder, are they capable of conscious thought? Are they .. like you and me? Are the stars shining for those who were? Containers of souls? Is that you up there, looking down at me?WIther All Life and Love
In the end we all but vanish. All that is known of us, but a faint memory of our past. Our actions, our words, our love. When it is time, this dramatic exit from consciousness, and from the material plane of life takes with it a mystery yet unsolved, as we are Returned to Sender.
Return to Sender
Home is where our soul is. We are all going home. This is the end of the line but the beginning of the greatest journey of all. Into an eternity of beauty, light and love.
