source: JoongAng Daily Multi Eye2005-10-25 Interview at the Drama Premiere JoongAng Ilbo (JungAng Daily Newspaper) Multi-EyeJeong, Jihun: I’m dying now (Laughs). I’m filming with all my efforts. If you watch the drama… I believe you’ll be able to have ‘the love of once in your life time’ by investing one hour of watching the drama. Q: How would you define RAIN vs Jeong, Jihun?Jeong, Jihun: Well… When I come to the location for acting, I usually leave RAIN somewhere else: somewhere at home. I regard RAIN and actor Jeong, Jihun as independent persona. So, as a singer I continuously work and study music and other things, er… and dance. As an actor, I study how to focus on the character thus to live the character itself. For singing and dancing, practice can help to improve, but for acting, apart from vocal training, there’s no text book for expressions and emotions. This is why I feel acting is so difficult. Q: Any difficulties with filming the drama?Jeong, Jihun: There are so many scenes which require emotional expressions. Filming of each emotional scene makes my legs shake. This is really hard. Um.. you can say I am deeply into it. But the emotional scenes are 7/10 of the whole drama, which is really hard for me.Q: Your team work with Shin, Minah?Jeong, Jihun: There weren’t many scenes that we filmed together yet, I cannot say much about it. But one thing I can say is she’s an actress from whom I can learn a lot. So calm and focused, unlike myself. I am rather loose when acting, but even through a few scenes we’ve done together, I can tell that she is… very professional. From that, I told myself, “I can learn a lot from her.” Throughout the 16 episodes of the drama, we’ll work in good harmony to make the drama impressive. Q: What do you do to differentiate the other characters you played before?Jeong, Jihun: I’m preparing some shocking aspects of new character. So, I wouldn’t say that I differentiate the character from the others. But, as the writer said just before, I thought about what I could bring out of myself after reading the script. It was not about myself in front of the camera, but is myself as Kang, Bokgu. So, when you watch the drama… um… I think you’ll make a good judgment on that. Q: Do you have a plan to be in a movie?Jeong, Jihun: I would love to, but not immediately.I don’t like ‘money-seeking’ films. I don’t want to be in a movie to get big popularity or to use it as a stepping stone to be recognized in the overseas film market. I just want to work under a good director, so that I can learn about movies. I want my first step into the movies to be a solid one with a good director. I am willing to be even in a short film. I want my start on a right foundation, thus, I’d like to maintain good quality as an actor even when my fame of 'star' fades out. Well, if I still can be a famous star till then, it’s even better. Anyways, I’ll be working hard, and I’ll be looking at only one direction. And, the reason why I decided to do this drama is that none of the scenarios offered to me attract me, and that I couldn’t make a drama that I was supposed to do last summer. One day, I heard about the synopsis of ‘I jukil nomuy sarang’. Then, later on I talked with the writer over the phone, and decided to do it almost spontaneously. Q: How would you describe the drama?Jeong, Jihun: To put it in a short summary, er… I have a brother who has a girlfriend who misunderstands him at some point. Later on my brother becomes a vegetable because of the girlfriend. Then, I decide to revenge on her, but the revenge turns into love. That’s a short summary, but I cannot give you the details. I’ll be acting out something different. The character I’m playing is a low life, which is very different from what I did in the previous dramas. Ah! In ‘Sangdoo, let’s go to school’, we had some comic elements, but in this new drama, there’s nothing comic about it. In ‘Full House’ we portrayed a beautiful love story, but in the new drama love is so rough and thoroughly painful. In acting out the character, the beginning parts were quite difficult, but I gradually fit into that, and I like it now. All the staffs and the director, the writer, and Minah Shin, Sarang Kim, Kiu Lee and Youngjae, all of them like me a lot and treat me well. And, our team work is great which makes me feel that we can show a very good drama to the viewers. =================================English translation by Genevieve
