In the first Round, We beat Oxford B by 34 imps.
Looking only at "our table" which me and james playing, the contract is quite "peaceful". The imps more or less indicated that also.
Therefore, I will focus on 3 Boards in this round only,
Which is board 5 with a 10 imps swing,
Board 7 for a 12imps swing
and Board 8 for a 10 imps swing.

This is the layout of Board 5.
Every looks fine.
Louisix, which is me(Oscar), holding a 20 counts and decide to Double opponent 1S and shows Clubs afterwards so that my hand will be perfectly discribed. (Note that when you introduce a new suit after a takeout double, you need to have more than 17 hcps!)
James 2H bid is forced, and decide to be quiet even knowing I have got a huge hand with clubs.
so 3C contract is settled, play by me.
The first lead by west is 2of Spade, followed by 5, A, 8. And I won the returning Spade.
Only looking on my hand and james hand, There is no loser in heart, A chance of 1 loser in diamond, and a big possibility to lose 2 tricks in trump if the trump is not friendly break. I already lost to Spade Ace, So to hold the contract to 9 tricks I have to prevent losing 3 or more tricks in clubs.
Due to our 5-2 trump fit, There is nothing you can do to promote clubs except by playing a low from hand and finesse the club Ace. In the game, Luckily the ace drops immediately (which is not recommended in good defence) , but the clubs Queen also drops by east, indicate that the trump is 5-1 breaking and I am still out of Clubs ten and nine. If I go straight forward to cash my Clubs K and J, I would have to lose to Clubs 10 and 8 and end up with one down.
But then, my opponent returned a diamond, Which gives me a free finesse of Diamond Queen here!
By free finesse, It means that your opponent Lead a card that you can finesse it anyway and the possiblity of promting tricks is 100%. Therefore, my Possible Diamond loser is away and now I can afford 3 club loser and still make the contract.
However, in the last three cards...
It is in my hand and I have J76. In this layout, if you play CJ first, you will end up with 1 tricks.
But If you play a small clubs instead, you can earn two tricks in clubs.
The other table overbid to 3NT, and 3NT is obviously impossible to make, simply by just ducking first round of spade to declarer in defence. This gave Bath Team A a 10 imps Swing.

First Lead is H5. From the first look it is obvious to lose 2 spade at least, 1 Heart and 0.5 each on both minor.
There may have some way to pitch a club with Heart K, Then the contract is cold.
In fact, opponent find a Correct lead and return correctly with HJ. I throw a clubs, which I already plan to do, and West ruff the HJ. This means 3D is already down as they have 2 fast trick in spade and the off side Trump K.
However, they did not cash the spade winner immediately. instead, West cross a spade to East and East would like to try one more ruff in Heart. I obviously will put the J as I have to do finesse anyway, and west did not cover with the King. This gives me a chance to make the contract by throwing my spade loser on Heart K and CA if A club finesse works, no matter west ruff my Heart K or not, my loser is pitched. In fact, I do the club finesse but I draw trump and hope for a on-side Trump K, and its fail. gGoing Down.
on the other side, the sequence goes:
East (Soozy) Bid a balancing 3H, And West(Joe) Rise to 3NT. Well play Joe.
Only Looking at the opponent diamond breaking, It isnt 0% to make 3NT, But It needs Heart KQ are both in North and the breaking must be 3-2. If thats the case, North will be keep throwing in and allow declarer to take 9 tricks first.
unfortunately Thats not the case, and Joe decide to finesse heart in the first round heart and lose to the singleton Queen, leads to a collapse with 7 Diamond crush. Five off.
Due to a huge mistake here, Bath A is giving away 12 imps in a single board.

South playing 5C.
The bidding sequence is quite long and involved a lots of thinking. As I in south, after hearing a 3C support I am interested in slam, because of my heart singleton. If James has nothing in heart, then 6C is very likely to be there.
for example , if james H QJ becomes one of the King in either Spade or Diamond, 6C is a easy contract.
In reality, I bid 3D to show a GF and values in diamond, and James simply raise to 3NT, implies that He is confident with 3NT even he dont know my heart holding. By that bid, I know 6C is already impossible. But I am also worried about 3NT, as my Spade and clubs are not very solid. Once I lose control, We might be in troubles with Heart. Therefore, I simply bid 4C to shows Slam interest (Which I dont) and James just raise to 5C.
The card play is not easy. Only losing Heart ace and a diamond If you play correctly in both black suit, which is you have to knock off the singleton Spade K and correctly finesse the club Q .
I am unable to do that in clubs, however my opponent in east throw away a small spade during trump drawing, and also west returns heart after he get the clubs Q which gives me a free finesse in H. I finally set up my HJ and pitch the diamond loser. 5C=
in the other table it goes like this:
Joe bid a agressive 2H here which blocks N from bidding. (I Do think N have a 2NT bid here)
And end up with 3NT.
3NT is mk only if declarer can play correctly in both black suit. Otherwise, he will have to lose 2 round control and will be beaten at the 5th round of heart. And in fact they did it, therefore 3NT-1. 10imps to Bath A.

section 2 result.
This round is quite exciting when comparing to the last board. I should have the main reason is, by knowing we are ahead 34 imps and also a 18imp penalty, our win is almost ensured, and therefore at least to me, this section did not pay me 100% attention, and as the result I have made some silly mistakes here like the board 2 2H-3, (should be -1). However, looking over the boards and there seems to be more mistake made by the other table.
on this section, I will focus on board 5, board 6 and board 10 only.
