You will never be as good as the play, but even when the language is at its most lyrical or most quotes beautiful there is also a point being made.
-When you first started acting,is there something you wanted to do?
AR:
I absolutely and,and it’s always there. It’s not that it sits on the horizon, but, but it’s always present and, ummm, and I think you,you always test yourself against.Well, you test yourself against great writing and I am going to talk about Peter Brook reminds me,I worked with him once at stratford, and in a way working with someone like him on shakespeare lets you off the hook a little bit.Because it will takes some of fear away.I remember a man coming to see the performance. It was (Autony and Cleopa) with Glenda Jackson and (AL),and he gathered the company together and said so how it been going and we said oh well this seem this and that seem that. And we are not getting to x in this part of the play or nine that part of the play. And he said, you know,he said, you know if I get back into companies and they tell me what the problems are as it the thing is you’ll never be as good as the play.So I mean that it stays with me and is quite releasing.Because you are aware of the (size) of not the problem but the greatness of the writing.I suppose one that’s done over time has developed into a belief that what ones aiming is suitably impossible always with great writing which is to be absolutely disciplined and absolutely free at the time.
我记得他来看了这个表演——那是和GJ与AJ(该是两个人名)合作的autony and cleopa(是个剧,名字写的肯定不对,有知道的给说一声)。

And the two things after work together, you know,I always think it’s a bit like the last image of the tempest when Caliburn is held tight at the same moment ,let go.And it seems to mean that in a way babe shakespeare writing about being a creative person. You have this impossible aim,and whatever your horizon is you keep moving towards it but it relentlessly moves away from you.So in a more relaxed way,I think,as one gets older, you guys, read shakespeare in a different way and it opens itself to you more, because you have got a few more life experience to bring the…you know, whenever you open a book and read it,it doesn’t get easier but it gets a little more available ,maybe,or you understand what waving in and out of those lines a bit more. And it very clear passionate, open, beautiful, thoughtful, profound, skittish, committed, tragic, amazing language and you have to pit yourself against it as a person. That’s the other thing you know.It is you as a person not you as an actor. You have got to measure up to as a person and so you could put yourself choices are as well as what your technique is your imagination is.But some are others, what is affect me most is when you are aware of all those forces combining into something which ultimately is just telling a story and seems to be quite a simple exercise.
