This support in turn allows this negative media to grow in influence and create vast amounts of advertising revenues. A web site like Perezhilton.com makes considerable sums of money from such negativity, yet we support it. I wonder what would happen if we, people who are not celebrities, became the target of such hate? Would we want others to read it and believe it? Would we support it by viewing it millions of times? Or would we realize that it's a symptom of a larger problem, a problem that is the exact opposite of love and compassion? I personally believe that by viewing and supporting such media we are poisoning ourselves.So what does this have to do with Avril? Well she is the never ending target of such media, and she is part of the fodder that feeds it. The latest example is the media debacle around Avril's Kuala Lumpur show, with all the headlines saying it was cancelled because Avril was too sexy. The show was never cancelled, all the proper permits had been obtained, the show as always was entertaining and respectful to the audience. The media were told over and over the show would go on and that there were no issues at all, but they could not accept the truth. Instead, they took gossip and created a week long story. The story that was missed was that Avril, at the young age of 24, has become a very worldly person by listening and been receptive to the intricate differences of various cultures. In doing so, she has learned to be very respectful of those cultures. What is also missed is that Avril is making history in Asia by playing 5 weeks worth of stadium dates and in particular in mainland China where she is playing 6 stadium shows. What is missed is her efforts to raise money for the earthquake relief efforts. How did we forget that an estimated 5 million people are homeless? Can you imagine over half of Los Angeles being homeless? Where is our energy going as a society? Avril has always done a lot of charity work from various concerts performances, to recordings, to bringing hope to countless kids in the "make a wish" program, just to name a few. Avril does it quietly as the media tends to get cynical and simply can't believe that celebrities like her care. Well she does, and so does the team behind her. Now what about the rest of us? It's time to delete the negative, choose not to criticize, choose respect and compassion, choose understanding and love, choose to live a happier life. namaste
