除了变成…的，转状语，单起一句之外，还有两种方式，也是比较常见的定从翻译方式，同样，用最近接触比较多的医学翻译为例，但，方法本身可以扩大到其他所有文体。
一、转为同位语，用即译出。
The dosage should be decreased gradually to the minimal effective level [which may be as low as 100mg daily].
剂量应逐渐减少到最低有效水平，即日剂量低至100mg.
二、运用标点比如括号，破折号来处理。
When in doubt, which is not infrequent, one will establish the diagnosis by laparotomy.
如有怀疑（这种情况也是常见的），可通过剖腹术确定诊断。
练习、自己选择合适的方法，翻译下面两句
As a few hours more go by, the pain tends to localize in the right lower part of the abdomen, [which is the region of appendix].
A microscopic examination of the ruine determines the presence of nephritis, [which is the most common kidney disease.]
答案
1、几小时后，疼痛局限于右下腹，即阑尾区。
2、尿的显微镜检查可确定是否患肾炎——一种最常见的肾病。

【2】
定语从句在意义上起状语从句的作用，表示主句谓语的原因，结果，目的，条件，让步，伴随等关系，此时要把定从处理为状语。
例句：The sick child [who had been given the medicine] soon fell asleep.
患儿服药[后]很快就睡着了。[时间]
例句：The patient [who was treated with great care and in time] revocered last week.
[由于]得到细心及时的治疗，患者已于上周康复。[因果]
练习：A characteristic that hemorrhagic disorders have in common is a disruption of the coagulation process [which brings about abnormal bleeding.]
答案：破伤风最重要的早期症状是牙关紧闭，即咀嚼肌无痛性痉挛，引起张口困难。
答案：出血性疾病的一个共同特征是凝血过程破坏，因而引起异常出血。
练习：Much the most important early symptom of tetanus is trismus, a painless spasm of the masseter muscles [which causes difficulty in opening the mouth.]
