'What IS my story?' Ian Thorpe, Julia Zemiro and Ernie Dingo look at their ancestry in new three-part documentary DNA Nation

Olympian Ian Thorpe is set to join television personality and actor Ernie Dingo and actress and comedian Julia Zemiro in a new three-part documentary.
Called DNA Nation, the show is set to air in May on SBS and looks at the ancestry of the stars and essentially, all human beings.
A trailer has just been released, with the former king of the pool at one point saying: 'What is my story?'
'Where does the DNA tell us that I'm from?,' the 33-year-old adds, as he is seen giving a swab of DNA from his mouth.
At one point, an expert can be heard saying to the group: 'You are very the first Australians to use DNA to trace your ancient ancestry over 200,000 years of history.'
'You're going to be experiencing the life of your mother's mother, up to eight thousand generations ago.'
Ernie meanwhile first appears in the clip saying: 'I know who I am, I know where I come from,' before the words 'think again' flash up on screen.
The trio then are seen globe-trotting to places including Tanzania and at one point, Ian and Julia appear to be working at an archaeological site, with Ian saying: 'You know these could be, potentially our ancestors as well.'
A voice over says towards the end of the clip that the trio: 'retraces Australia's genetic footprints to discover what makes us who we are.'
Ernie can also be seen finding out he has links to the Vikings, saying: 'That explains a lot of my cousins.'
The documentary series was created by Blackfella Films and is airing as part of ‘SBS Explores Identity' which runs from May 15 - Sunday June five.
'SBS Explores Identity' offers various content to audiences and focuses on genetics and individual and collective identities.
