One last time. Those are the words that Hugh Jackman has been saying for a bit now about the upcoming sequel to The Wolverine. The actor is getting ready to hang up the claws and there's been lots of talk about whether or not we would be seeing someone step into the role after Jackman left.
But could someone really fill those shoes? Sixteen years and going. That's how long Jackman has been playing the iconic character and after all this time, it's going to be really hard for fans to see anyone else in the role. It appears that both director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg feel the same way about the matter. While speaking withDigital Spy, the two agreed that recasting the role would be impossible. Kinberg had the following to say regarding recasting the character.
“I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward. Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else playing the part, and there’s not too many characters I can say that for.”
I'm right there with you Simon. It's going to be sad day seeing Hugh finally hang up the claws when the currently untitled sequel to The Wolverine hits theaters next year. Let us know your thoughts on the above in the comments section below.
