Adele Tops Billboard Artist 100;
Adele ties for the chart's second-longest reign
Fueled by the continued success of album 25 and its lead single "Hello," Adele is again the top musical act in the U.S., keeping at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Jan. 16).

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across Billboard's most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Adele leads the Artist 100 for an eighth total (and sixth consecutive) week, tying The Weeknd for the second-longest reign since the chart premiered in July 2014. They trail Taylor Swift, the leader with 31 weeks at the summit.

As previously reported, 25 tallies a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales, earning 363,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 31 (down 70 percent), according to Nielsen Music; of that total, 307,000 were pure album sales (down 74 percent). 25 sold 7.44 million copies in the U.S. through the week ending Dec. 31 and finishes 2015 as the top-selling album of the year.

Plus, Adele's "Hello" earns the rare honor of topping the Hot 100 for a 10th week. As in the previous week, album sales continue to mark Adele's greatest metric on the Artist 100 (63 percent). Digital song sales follow at 16 percent, with "Hello" up by 88 percent to 327,000 downloads sold in the tracking week (most songs gained heavily in the tracking week, presumably aided by the redemption of iTunes gift cards received as holiday presents).
