Comedian Rob Schneider seems to have found a niche in the lowbrow, high concept comedy market with the "Deuce Bigalow" films and other movies like "The Animal" and "The Hot Chick." His rise to fame started when he began making the standup rounds as a young comic in the San Francisco area. The son of a Filipino mother and Jewish father, Schneider's quirky look and humor connected with audiences, and when Lorne Michaels spotted him in 1990 performing on an HBO special, he was hired onto SNL.

After a few false starts and a failed sitcom, things turned around when buddy Adam Sandler began casting him in his movies, leading to Schneider's opportunity to try his hand at leading-man status in a number of comedies. Though these films were largely ignored by the critics, they have found a dedicated fan base, and a number of new ones are in various stages of development.
