　　你是否，是否，会来到这棵树旁，颈上戴着绳子做成的项链，与我肩并肩，在这里发生了奇怪的事啊，可更奇怪的是我们午夜在这棵上吊树下相会。鸟儿在等我继续唱下去，可歌已经唱完了。这是最后一段。在寂静中，我回忆起从前。一天我和爸爸从林子里打猎回来，和咿呀学语的波丽姆一起坐在地板上，唱着《上吊树》这首歌。我们俩的脖子上都戴着歌中唱的绳子做的项链，当时并不知道歌词的真正含义。曲调简单易学。我在那个年纪，所有的歌只要唱一两遍就记住了。突然，妈妈把绳子从我们的脖子上拽下来，并冲爸爸大喊起来。我从未见过妈妈发脾气，立刻哭喊起来，波丽姆也吓得号啕大哭，我赶紧跑到外面。躲到“牧场”上的一丛忍冬里，我总是藏在那里。爸爸很快找到了我。他极力安慰我，说没事的，只是以后再也不要唱这首歌了。妈妈要我把这歌忘了。可是，从那时起，这首歌的每一个字都深深地刻在我的记忆里。
