1) She got to kiss James Van Der Beek on the lips.
In 1998, McBride appeared in the season 1 episode of "Dawson's Creek," titled "Road Trip." In the episode, she played Nina, a film buff who charmed Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) following his split from Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams). At one point in the episode, McBride and Van Der Beek locked lips. Watch their kissing scene starting at the 0:20 mark of the video below:

2) She used to be a casting director.
For more than a decade, McBride worked as a casting director for Stllwell Casting, where she booked actors mostly for commercials and short films in Georgia.
"I was acting full time, always living in Atlanta, and just decided 10, 11 years ago that I wanted to try something different," she said in an AMC interview of her decision to focus her attention on being a casting director.
"It was a whole different kind of fulfillment than acting," McBride told Atlanta Journal Constitution of the job.

3) She was considered for a bigger role in Frank Darabont's "The Mist."
When casting agency Finncannon & Associates asked her to audition for the 2007 film adaptation ofStephen King's horror novella of the same name, McBride resisted. But her boss Annette Stilwell, who is a huge Stephen King fan, convinced her to give it a try.
McBride was in contention for a bigger role in the film but didn't want to take so much time away from her job as a casting director, so Darabont cast her as the "woman with the kids at home," a smaller yet impactful role that led the filmmaker to offer her a role on "The Walking Dead."

7) She has strong interest in Psychology.
"I just like kind of sitting, just roaming around in my brain," she told Fast Company's Co.Create. "I also like observing people. That's something I've always loved to do, although it's a little harder to find places to go to just kind of watch people. Yeah, psychology is something I'm very interested in."

8) She wanted to be a fashion designer.
"I wanted to design clothes, but I took drama in high school," the Kentucky-born actress, who grew up in North Carolina, revealed to Fast Company's Co.Create. "When I came to Atlanta, and I was out of the school that I'd gone to for fashion design, I signed up for an acting workshop." And that's when McBride has become more interested in acting.

9) She's not used to fame.
"A lot like my character Carol, I feel like we're sort of navigating a new world together," she told The Daily Beast this past March. "She has the apocalypse, and I have [the popularity that comes with 'The Walking Dead']. You're required to do things you're not necessarily comfortable doing. It's a wonderful challenge for me, and I'm trying to grow and learn more about myself in the process."
