Sharon: No, we’ve been there 3 or 4 times. I have to say it’s a lot of fun but it’s a very special country, very different.
RV: What’s so typically different compared to here?
Sharon: The culture is a bit harsher, I have to say. But it’s also… You have to put in more effort to get to know them, the Russian people. They have another way of communicating.

Sharon: The first time I was there they told me ‘Don’t smile outside on the street because that’s a sign of weakness.’ I thought ‘Okay…’

Sharon: Yes, they look very angry! (laughs) But it’s not that bad, I don’t know where it came from. Yeah, it was a real Russian person that said ‘You have to be careful in Moscow because…’ But it was not that bad.

They will show another part of Russia so I think like yeah… St. Petersburg and Moscow are pretty European, I heard, and the others are really Russian. So I’m really curious about what ‘really Russian’ means because I thought the others were also really Russian. So, yeah.
RV: I always imagine a really empty city. Houses with thick walls and small windows. People wearing fur and looking angry, indeed. That’s the image I have.

Sharon: Yes, that’s right, indeed! The 013 is renovated and to celebrate that they invited some bands to re-open it with a party. Do we need a Christmas tree and other sweet stuff on stage? That doesn’t fit our music.’ So we’re going to do an alternative.

Sharon: Black X-mas is a bit like Nightmare Before Christmas, I don’t know if you know the movie. It’s a bit like Halloween, but at Christmas time with a Christmas atmosphere. So that means zombies… That means witches… That means….

Sharon: Everything that’s creepy, ghosts, everything that’s creepy is welcome at our party. Everyone has to dress up, you can’t be recognizable anymore. So all the famous Dutch people can come incognito.

RV: Amazing, I can come like a clown or something.

Sharon: Well we’ll still have to think about that but we also have a song named Gothic Christmas. It’s a hilarious joke that kind of got out of hand at some point but our fans love it, it’s one of their favorites.

Sharon: Yes, we’ll play that one for sure. And besides that… yeah, maybe a song by Wham! It could be really funny to transform that into something completely different.
