Batum on Team Africa roster for monumental game

Charlotte Hornets swingman Nicolas Batum will participate in the NBA's first-ever exhibition game in Africa next month.

Batum, 26, will be a member of the Team Africa roster and will play against a squad of NBA stars from the rest of the world. The game will take place on Aug. 1 in Johannesburg, South Africa and be broadcast live by ESPN.

Batum, whose father was born in Cameroon, was traded to the Hornets this offseason after seven seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. Batum has averaged 11.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game over his career.
