昨天在脸谱上登了几条让人吃惊的消息。
1.mapogo 在沙河sand river群里有6只将近成年的雄性后代。 2009年因为越出保护区其中5只被枪杀。一只逃脱后也死了。 据willem botha一个当地的工作人员说是当地部落逼迫保护区工作人员这么干的。
2. 秃尾巴被证实是因为跑出保护区去捕猎一头家畜，被当地人设套捕杀。
昨天fb上面还有一张照片，今天那个页面被锁。

The big culprits are the three chiefs of Dumphries village who insisted thatc he lions should be distroyed after eating their cattle. We attempted to bait and dart the lions and take them back to the Sabi Sands but members of the local population on instruction of the chiefs chaded the lions away from the bait. They also threatened members of the Sabi Sands and MTPA with violence should we attempt to dart the lions. At one stage we wanted to leave the area the but were blocked by the local population and were told that we could not leave before the lions were destroyed. That was when a group of huntets with their dogs from Lydenburg was called to assist the authorities. Dreadlocks also left the reserve in the north of the reserve at the Kokovelo river where he on various occasions left the reserve to seek easy prey in the community outside the reserve. There he was caught in a snare which was set near a carcass of a cow which he caught the previous night.

看英文确实是老四，前半段说的是一群狮子，后面把老四的英文名写出来，用了also，也。然后应该就是楼主说的被杀了。不过消息看是否为真的。

他们还自以为狠威风，可恶之及，但忘了最重要一点，威风的是枪并不是他们几人，可悲、可恨、愚蠢之及。还笑的可以，可能他们认为这非同一般的黄金一笑会留名千古，可惜这几个蠢猪没想到的是，从此背负上的是千古骂名，而非留名，可笑、可悲、可怜、可恨。

"I want to talk about the Mapogo's descendants for this post. In terms of numbers, there's a not a lot of them: there's the 3 Ottawa females, the 4 Mangheni females, and possibly the 2 Ottawa males who went into the KNP in 2012. For such a strong coalition, those numbers aren't impressive.
But then, we have to talk about the "dark" side of thoses numbers: the impact of humans.
Not a lof of people know this but the Mapogos had 5 sons in the Sand River Pride in 2009, who were around 2 years old~. Early 2009, the fences of the western sector were washed away by heavy rains and the Sand river pride (2 females adults and the 5 subadults males) broke out of the Sabi Sands reserve. The authorities decided to shot down the entire pride, and the entire pride was wiped out (one male got away but didn't survive alone). Can't imagine how awesome if those 5 had make it to maturity....
For the Ximhungwe pride, there was a lot of misfortune due to humans also. 4 subadults ate a rabid dog and had to be put down by the authorities. One Xim lionness was killed by a snare; her 2 sons weren't accepted by the others lionness and died as a result.
Dreadlocks was a casualty of poaching also. There could be also others things that never became public and we'll never know about it.
I'm not trying to blame the Sabi Sands reserve who are doing their best to protect their wildlife, they are not the one to blame for this record.

Willem Botha That is why I dont want to comment on these sites. Who is the animal murderer you refer to. Nature has to be managed. If the mapogos escaped and killed half the population outside the reserve and someone shot them, would that person be called a hero or an animal murderer?

Willem Botha Arjan van Vendelo. Read my previous comment. One thing people do not understand is the fact that once a lion got used to hunting easy prey he always goes back. Fences cannot keep animals in. If they want to go out they will go out. Especially once they are being threatened where they live. I learned that the hard way. If you were in my shoes you would understand. If you did not walk where I did you will never understand it.

Willem Botha Did anyone ever ask why the Sand River pride flee out of the reserve. Why did they not want to come back when we lured them back with bait and why did they leave again after we brought them back after they escaped the first time?

Willem Botha Drew, I have nothing to hide. There is however so many people sharing photos on these pages that do not deserve the credits as they actually know nothing about the facts. If you knew the true facts you could give your meaning but even you were not there. I was there even though I was not part of the masacare but had to over see it after the 3 savages in the left rear insited that the lions be killed. Everyone blames the white hunters. Its is time the truth be told. They were the only people who gained financialy and even though they were compencated for the catle that were killed, the owners of the cattle were never compwnsated. Only the chiefs gained. True africa style.

I Was not the desicion maker I just had to follow orders from people in government if you can call them that. So stop trying to make out as if I am the bad one here.. I spent days and nights on foot because of the wet season trying to locate those lions darting them and returning them to the Sabi Sands as I did with Makwela untill she and her cubs were killed by the savages outside the Sabi Sands. You are ill informed. Get your facts straight then slander me again.
Willem Botha I have no guilt. The only reason I posed for the photo is to expose the real culprits. The people for whom Richard Branson built a clinic and that is the way they are thanking him. You are just another arm chair concervationist who actualy know nothing trying to discredit people who devoted ther lives to conservation trying to make our voice heard. That is shamefull.
Willem Botha I am trying to make a positive contribution to this page by trying to share the truth about the events about the lions of the Sabi Sands whom I worked with for several years but unfortunately some clever as holes who never even seen the lions live and only read about them on internet and some pretty faces who exploit Africa's wildlife for financial gain, are not giving me the opportunity to share the real facts with people who are really interested to hearvthe facts. I will thus be no longer part of this discussion. Believe the people who give you secondhand false information. They are the people who apear in documentaries about the lions you all became to love.
