Hello everyone,
Welcome to the first Child of Mind newsletter!
I hope you’ve all seen the recent updates on Facebook, Twitter etc.
I recently had a great time in the studio, experimenting and laying down the first foundations for the upcoming EP. Guitar and vocals were recorded together to give a live-performance feel and atmosphere to the record. I want it to sound very intimate and when the listener puts on headphones it should feel and sound as if they’re right there in the room with me. This first EP will be quite ‘stripped-back’ from a production standpoint and I’m working on extra guitar and keyboard ideas at the moment. I’m recording these at home as I like to take my time when experimenting and writing parts but I’ll possibly then re-record them at a later point in the studio, through techniques such as re-amping for example.
In the coming months, to help with some of the costs of recording, I’m thinking about doing a crowdfunding campaign or something similar…For example, I’m planning on auctioning some of the gear that I’ve used in the past to make my demos or write with. These range from microphones to keyboards and all items can be signed if the winning bidder so wishes.
Possibly also up for auction are copies of my previous albums/singles; Declan, Tell Me Why, Thank You, You and Me, Ego You…All of which are now quite rare and hard to get hold of and again I’m happy to sign them if this is wished.
This is really a great, direct way for people to get hold of very limited edition items, that they normally wouldn’t be able to buy and to also at the same time support what I’m doing because as an independent artist it’s extremely difficult to do everything alone and to record a top quality record with professionals costs a lot of time and money.
I’m looking forward to the next steps so stay tuned for all the updates that will be coming!
