I agree that showing interest may help improve chances of being taken off the waitlist. Communicating with admissions counselors may help to cement the idea that you're still willing to attend Lehigh even after being waitlisted.
However, I would urge all waitlisted students to not get their hopes up. According to Lehigh's Office of Institutional Research:
2012: Students put on waitlist: 1337, Students accepted from waitlist: 0
2011: Students put on waitlist: 1514, Students accepted from waitlist: 1
2010: Students put on waitlist: 1206, Students accepted from waitlist: 14
2009: Students put on waitlist: 1160, Students accepted from waitlist: 43
2008: Students put on waitlist: 1388, Students accepted from waitlist: 7
2007: Students put on waitlist: 1096, Students accepted from waitlist: 72
2006: Students put on waitlist: 807, Students accepted from waitlist: 2

The trends from the past 3 or 4 years would seem to indicate that although Lehigh is putting more students on the waitlist, it is also taking fewer students off the waitlist and offering them full admission.
Best,
- Mike
