And just like YHAs in the past, hemlines remained youthfully short and sweet.Host Aisha Tyler set the fashion tone with her bright lemon yellow mini dress — Emmanuelle Chriqui also chose a mini, albeit in an eye-popping shade of nearly neon green. Abigail Breslin turned up very age appropriate in a green and white outfit with silver gladiator-type flats. Variations of the colors purple, too, were among the chosen ones: Lily Collins (daughter of Another Day in Paradise singer Phil Collins) slipped on the iridescent, Emma Stone picked the muted and singer Taylor Swift put on a blend of the two in muted, iridescent. Bright blue accessories were also a hit — Anna Faris accented her strapless dress with a pair of architecture heels in the hue, while Christine Lakin went (unfortunately) matchy-matchy with her clutch and shoes. America Ferrara was a big fan of the blue as well, but seemed much more inclined to the jewel-tone variety.

Members of the neutral brigade were Jenna Dewan in a body-hugging nude shade (her fiance Channing Tatum no doubt loved this little number), Kat Von D in gothic lace (how very Prada for Fall ‘08), Brittany Snow in a form-fitting silver and nude mesh with a fish scale motif, and Adrienne Curry in an interesting, um, print and solid-paneled black empire waist dress.

The men of the night kept it dressy casual in button up shirts and dress pants — Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mario and William Baldwin — though Chris O’Donnell paired his crisp shirt with jeans and a blazer.

All in all, this year’s Young Hollywood Awards was a sartorial success, meaning there were a lot more style hits (Anna Faris, America Ferrara, Aisha Tyler) than misses (sorry, Miss Lakin and Miss Curry). Either these stars are employing the right stylists or developing a strong fashion eye, but either way, it’s working.So until the YHA red carpet next year, this is the Hollywood Life style spotter, signing off.
