Keith recovering from tattoo blood scareThursday May 01 2008BOYZONE star Keith Duffy is recovering from a suspected blood poisoning, septicemia.The former Coronation Street actor got a new tattoo done last Tuesday morning but by that afternoon he started to feel sick and soon his arm, leg and part of his face swelled up. Keith was taken to A&E and was kept in hospital overnight when doctors feared he may have contracted septicemia. The dad of two was released from hospital but told to rest in bed for several days until the swelling went down and he started to feel better. As a result, both he and fellow member Shane Lynch missed a Boyzone appearance at Merlin Car Auctions off the Naas Road. Shane – who has numerous tattoos – was meant to travel down in Keith's car with him, but had to cancel when Keith fell ill. Bandmate Ronan Keating said: “He has gone through a pretty horrific experience. He basically has a form of blood poisoning and it could have been very serious if they didn’t take action straight away.” INJECTIONS Keith was gasping for breath and sweating heavily by the time he arrived at the emergency room. He received a series of injections and doctors monitored his heart. Manager Louis Walsh said: “All I know is that Keith is very sick and is at home in bed. And we're worried about the upcoming Tubridy Tonight appearance this Saturday by the band. “We'll just have to see how he is. They suspect it's some sort of blood poisoning after the tattoo.” Louis revealed how rehearsals for their comeback tour had been going really well until Keith went down. “There's a great vibe in the band at the moment. Everybody is enjoying it and having a ball. I wish it had always been like this.”
