嗯, 想起来了, 去年英文课上有写过一篇关于神的孩子都在跳舞的东东, 不知道能帮上你吗? Music Review on "falling angel with a flying soul" by Taiwanese band Maydayby timemachineThe definition of music seems simple. It is something that entertains, something that manages to capture our hearts, or something that turns us off at times. But how do we define music and what is good music? Put this question to two different people from two separate corners of the world, and we will probably get two varying answers to this seemingly straightforward question. To me, music is a matter of personal choice. One might consider a piece of music an absolutely fantastic composition, while another might turn his back on it thinking it is nothing worthy of his ears but irritating noise. I especially enjoyed the music produced by a Taiwanese band named "Mayday", which constitutes of five members: ashin, masa, monster, stone and ming, playing the role of vocalist, bassist, guitarist and drummer respectively. Their music often touches me and has always been my source of strength and inspiration. Mayday's music spans across many musical genres including soft rock, hard rock, R&B, hip pop, blues, et cetera. It is difficult to define their style of music for the typical mayday style is in fact no particular style. However, Mayday's music always exudes a tinge of positivity that touches my heart and encourages me to go for my dreams. The band's music has always been my pillar of strength. I often seek solace in their music whenever I face setbacks in life. It never fails to cheer me up and make me feel really positive about everything that lies ahead. The band has recently released their fifth album "Falling angel with a flying soul". The first song that struck me in their new album was the song entitled "John Lennon", which non-mysteriously makes reference to the eminent music legend, John Lennon of the Beatles. Being the legendary icon of rock music, the Beatles has greatly influenced mayday, not only confined to the musical style but also in terms of the roles they had to play towards the shaping of society in their own time. The Beatles were both the driving force in creating a new ground in the world of popular music and defining how the future of rock music was to be. Besides these, they were also great inspirations to the youths of their period. It was evident through the serious subjects that the Beatles dealt with in their music. Many admire John Lennon for the courage he displayed when campaigning for world peace and for an end to the Vietnam war which almost cost him his citizenship. Throughout their band career, Mayday strove towards becoming the Beatles of the Chinese world. Their main motivation behind the song "John Lennon" was to remind themselves that they should follow the spirit of John Lennon, to express their own ideas and views about this world to many people, by means of their music. The song, "John Lennon", comes at a time when the modern world of the new millenium wakes up everyday to news of massive social unrest, religious uprising and political conflicts, including Taiwan itself which is a society of political instability. This is also the very local and global environment in which Mayday and their audience have been socialised into, regardless of language and culture. The interdependent world has become what we know as a global village. What we see happening in one part of the world affects us no matter where we are. The song thus seeks to borrow the unrelenting spirit of the Beatles and their influence on the world at their prime. It communicates to listeners about their pertinent social problems, as well as Mayday's own wish of becoming a driving force in society, just as the Beatles were in their time.

The lyrics of the song fits perfectly with its energy-brimming melody. In the first verse, Mayday moulds out the image of John Lennon and talks about how he had lost his life to a detrimental bullet yet still lives in the hearts of many. Mayday indicated that he might not be happy while looking at the current state of the world. The second verse goes on to further emphasize the impact John Lennon had on the world he once lived in. Though songs today still speak of peace as Beatles used to have in their own music, strife is still very much part of this world today. The widespread media allows us to witness this many scenes of war and conflicts that occur everyday in our lives, thus the words "still part of my life". We are brought into the first chorus of the song that continues to speak from the first person's point of view. Listeners are brought into the song as the protagonist, asking for more strength and courage to achieve their dreams and even to become a hero for the ones that loved them. The general themes of dreams and love are something that many youths can relate to. The third line of the chorus explicitly infers mayday's own concept of a song, or could also be personalised and internalised into anything that the listeners desire or dream of attaining. The song returns to another verse with completely different style from the first two verses, creating a narrative touch to the song. The metaphor of a red bean is used here. It talks about something that we are very familiar with but rather insignificant in our lives, wanting to achieve a deed as great as leaping out of the universe. This impossibility is then measured up against the idea of wanting to counter thousands of armaments with a single guitar, which is literally what John Lennon had tried to do with the release of the album "Imagine". Listeners familiar with John Lennon's peace campaign efforts would be inspired by this idea of making the impossible become possible. The next verse swung its focus from John Lennon to Mayday themselves, perhaps in attempt of drawing a link between the two. Mayday's expression of their desire of becoming like the Beatles, who expressed their opinion and played a great influence in society, is clearly iterated by the third line which says "we want the world to be touched by us". Once again, the chorus returns with a double emphasis on Mayday's and the listener's own wish to borrow the courage and dreams of John Lennon at times when things seem bleak. The last line and the final refrain highlights the common theme in many of Mayday's songs. It is the dreams and encouragement to their listeners and themselves. It also serves as a reminder to everyone that one should dare to dream rather than living in regrets. Dreams and encouragement have been the constant themes in mayday's songs, as reiterated in the song "John Lennon". Their music is motivational, not just in providing the courage for fans to pursue their dreams, but also in helping them to understand that succeeding in the actual goal does not matter as much as the process itself. The lyrics are cleverly penned and they move beyond the typical pop music lover's laments to comment on society and life. This is definitely something replicated once again in "John Lennon". To me, the song represents the dreams of the band as well as the dreams of the listeners in their personal endeavors.

其实那个翻译版本很生硬的.一看就不如写的那么口语化.楼主还是自己努力写一篇吧...反正以后还要考四六级什么的,都要写英文作文的.不要用这么偷懒的办法了....
