The meaning of everything ..the glyphics, [symbols] the Echelon, etc. Well, I decided to make a list exsplaining a few things to the some of the new people. The Glyphs: [symbols]They basicly represent the band*********************They are Ancient Hieroglyphics, they are actually made up i believe. and theystand for the bands name. THIS is my interpertation...not confirmed as of yet. Some others hint and say they mean something else but i doubt it. They will always just mean the band 30STM to me. *********************1st Symbol - intertwined 3's standing for 30.2nd Symbol - Clock Hands pointing counterclockwise supposed to meanSeconds.3rd Symbol - An inverted Roman Numeral of 2 (to).4th Symbol - Drawing of Mars. the two dots represent Phobos and Diemos,Mars' moons********************INTERESTED in the 4 little symbols on the insert of the first cd?? READ HERE********************THE BAND NAMEWhy 30stm?The name actually comes from a thesis that we found online it was written by a former Harvard professor. And one of the subsections of the thesis was titled 'thirty seconds to mars' and he goes on to talk about the expediential growth of technology that relates to humans and saying that we are quite literally thirty seconds to mars. what it means to us is, we thought it best described our music, in short. The PhoenixA bird in Egyptian mythology that lived in the desert for 500 years and then consumed itself by fire, later to rise renewed from its ashes.A person or thing of unsurpassed excellence or beauty; a paragon.A constellation in the Southern Hemisphere near Tucana and Sculptor.********************The pathagarus {Jared's guitar} believed to be named after one of his dogs.{or vice versa] It is a custom made Steve Mcswain Model with a pic of a gryphon { winged monster with an eagle-like head and body of a lion } jared drew it for him and he captured it to a T. and you can see it here:mcswain guitarsclick on blade and paint********************The Echelon:What does the term Echelon mean::It's a military term. Echelon means to attack in waves...it was used by Napoleon during the Napoleanic wars. The term was to attack "En Echelon', in waves. Echelon means waves, which would make sense in the song "Echelon" when the song goes "What's with the fascination with the Echelon".The Echelon is also what the band Calls thier street team and fans. There is a special section on the site just for us Echelon . We are sent missions and such to promote the band And this is also where the band will post to update us on certain happenings..etc...Just like a regular street team work only better . MOST DEVOTED teamers I have EVER SEEN! we are the MARS army and we promote promote promote..it is what we do. join the Echelon back up and running and taking recruits HEREEchelon: a formation of troops

********************The Acropolis:The acropolis is the page where you go if you are ECHELON ONLY..it has a list of what the band wants us to do, make stuff, contests, News, Info, ect.... it also contains the password to echelon section of the board. you can now join theECHELON HEREand the ACROPOLIS THE ACROPOLIS********************PROVEHITO IN ALTUM::Launch forth into the deepreach for the heightsIs a Latin metaphor and can be translated in three different ways::"March on into higher grounds""Launch forth into higher grounds""Launch forth into the deep"******************************THE ARROW::The arrow is a visual representation for "Provehito in Altum." The progressive leap. "Launch forth into the unknown."It is also the Norse rune for tyr/tiwaz [the Norse sky-god]It means::Honor, justice, leadership and authority. Analysis, rationality. Knowing where one's true strengths lie. Willingness to self-sacrifice. Victory and success in any competition or in legal matters. Tiwaz Reversed or Merkstave: One's energy and creative flow are blocked. Mental paralysis, over-analysis, over-sacrifice, injustice, imbalance. Strife, war, conflict, failure in competition. Dwindling passion, difficulties in communication, and possibly separation.*****************************THE MESSAGE AT THE END OF the first CD [hidden track}The message at the End of CD, {the struggle} It was lifted off Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." The website for the source is the following:the art of warclassics.mit.edu/Tzu/artwar.html You can also see a cool video of it HERESome laughter::A military force established by deception of sense that you deceive enemies so that they do not know your real (revolution), and that they can establish supremacy. It is mobilized by a game in a sense that it goes into action when it sees an advantage, dividing the great bodies thought to confuse opponents and observe how they react to you so that they can adapt and situate and seize victory. Therefore when it moves swiftly it is like the ramp, when it goes slowly it is like the force. It is rapacious fire and immovable as mountains, and as swift as the wind yet it comes without a trace and withdraws like lightning and it is like a forest that isn't growing and is rapacious as fire across a plain, not leaving a single blade of grass .But as immovable as a mountain, it's hard to know as the dark ends up killing thunder. To ponder a locality to line up your troupes to expand your territory to buy the spoils. The rule for military operations is to feed of the enemy as much as possible however the localities where people do no have very much it is necessary to divide up the troupes into smaller groups to take what they need here and there. For when then and there, there will be enough..... Welcome to the Universe.******************************First CD info::The band name?

DH: If you weren’t in 30 Seconds To Mars what do you think you’d be doing?TM: Living on the streets somewhere in Los Angeles playing the guitar for pennies on a street corner. I just happened to step foot into the right door.DH: What should people expect when they see you guys live?TM: Total and complete fucking Armageddon.DH: That worksTM: Yeah just leave that just like that.DH: What band would you say you’ve had the most fun touring with and why?TM: I gotta say Chevelle. They are like the coolest guys in the world and when we’re on tour with them it’s just pure family all the time. We get along. Their crowd likes our music, I think our crowd likes their music. You know what I mean, I don’t know for sure but I know that their fans like us because we don’t booed and you know they always treat us with a lot of respect which we love and they welcome us whenever we open for them and they’re really great guys. There’s been a lot of people you know, Lollapalooza we toured with a ton of great bands and that was incredible too. But I’d say Chevelle has got to be up there.DH: Have you guys ever pulled pranks on other bands or each other, if so what did you do?TM: Pranks, overrated. No we really don’t do stuff like that. I mean we’ve done stupid little things like at the end of the tour, it’s kind of a tradition, the last show of tour for any group of bands you know to kind of just fuck with each other and mess with their stuff on stage. You know you always want to put on a good show so you really don’t want to screw anybody up like that. We’ll go on their stage and wear stupid clothes sometimes and run around and jump off or throw water at them while they’re playing, you know stupid shit like that. Sometimes we’ll run across the stage naked just to arouse a little suspicion or excitement. You never know what to expect, you never know what you’re going to get when you come to a show.DH: What was your first concert you ever went to?TM: The first rock concert I ever went to was in seventh grade and it was Nirvana and I was enough to be one of the people that got to see Nirvana live. I feel very blessed about that because our generation and younger obviously doesn’t have a chance to do that, I’m only 25 so, I’m not that old compared to people who got to see Nirvana play live. That was the first show, that’s when I knew this is what I’m going to do. I was like this what I’m supposed to do because I played the violin ever since I was three, I started off playing violin as a very little kid and about seventh grade is when I discovered what I was really meant to do (laughs).DH: Do you have a crazy tour story or a fun road memory or maybe like a creepy fan story you can tell me about?TM: Creepy fan story? No, no creepy fan story. We love all our fans very much no matter how creepy they are. Crazy tour story? I mean touring is really, really hard work

and there’s a lot of crazy stuff that happens, you know people get sick and they have to play, you know you’re driving around in a bus and it’s like in Arizona it’s a 103 degrees and the air conditioning stops working and the next thing you know you feel like you’re going to die because your bus is stranded in the middle of the desert. People don’t even realize how miserable that can be. This is nothing. The heat that we’re feeling is nothing. It’s winter compared to what people in the desert have to deal with but we personally haven’t had any crazy tour stories like the stuff that you’re looking for because we’re pretty mellow, we just work, we just want to play really well every night, we just want people to check out our music.DH: If you could tour with any band or musician who would it be?TM: Oh come on, you can do better than that.DH: (laughs)TM: (laughs) With any band or musician (laughs)? I could give a shit who we tour with. I play for me.DH: Yeah but there’s never been someone you always wanted to play with?TM: No, not really. I’m here to kill my heroes and dethrone all rock gods, you know what I mean. I don’t look up to anyone. I just want to have my own Pedi stool.DH: What are some of your hobbies aside from making music, what do you do when you’re not on the road?TM: I make music constantly. I don’t do anything else and that’s the honest truth. When we’re not on tour we’re rehearsing, we’re doing artwork for the record you know, any aspect of merchandise, it doesn’t matter what, we do 24 hours a day it’s always 30 Seconds To Mars, all the time.DH: Dedication.TM: Yeah, it’s no joke. It’s not a fucking hobby, it’s a real, real thing, it’s a career.DH: What so far has been your favorite place to play whether it be a city, state, venue?TM: Cleveland is always really, really good to us. Cleveland just as a city is really good for 30 Seconds To Mars, I always remember. Los Angeles our hometown is always amazing, the shows are just completely off the wall and the fans are really great there but Cleveland as far as outside off our home, Cleveland has got to be one of the best places for us.DH: Do you personally enjoy playing smaller or bigger venues?TM: The bigger the better for me because our sound is such a huge sound, the bigger the venue, the more accurate we sound. Small venues are great because they’re intimate and you can put on a really great show for a small amount of people and those people feel really close and had a really cool small show that was just for them, and that’s great on one hand but on the other hand our sound is designed for a huge venue so when we play those bigger places we just sound epic, epic rock you know and I personally enjoy that because I got into this game to play in front of a lot of people and to touch a lot of people with our music.DH: Who are some of your musical influences?TM: As a band, our musical influences, we always say we have the grandiosity of Pink Floyd with the raw energy of the Sex Pistols. That’s how we always… and The Cure is a definite influence of all of us as musicians, stuff like that. Epic, great music is what we listen to.

DH: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?TM: In 30 Seconds To Mars on tour playing small towns like Toledo and talking to cool chicks like you.DH: Good one.DH: If you were interviewing me what is one question you’d ask me?TM: (laughs) That’s a good one, if I was interviewing you.DH: Was that a smart ass comment or was that serious?TM: No, that’s a serious smart ass comment. If I was to interview you… I wouldn’t ask you a question. I would never ask anyone questions. I’m not an interviewer. I’m not a journalist (laughs).DH: You are a pain in my ass.TM: Oh I know but we love each other (laughs).DH: You think (laughs). I’m gonna have to take that review down and rewrite it.TM: Ohhh.DH: A bunch of egotistical assholes, no I’m just kidding.TM: Oh come on I’m really not.DH: I’m kidding, I’m kidding.TM: (laughs)DH: If you could say anything to Toledo, Ohio and T-Town music readers what would you say?TM: Keep supporting your local music. Places like Headliners in a small town like this, I know it’s already changed once from Hard Hat to Headliners which means that it’s changed ownership. You guys got to go out and see shows, you got to support your music scene because it will disappear before your very eyes and just joking I was going to plug it but just kidding. A Beautiful Lie, 30 Seconds To Mars, August 30th, please buy our record we want you to.DH: And check them out on tour.TM: And check us out on tour with Chevelle, The Used, and other bands throughout the summer and winter and next year (laughs).DH: What can we expect from you guys in the future?TM: Well you can expect us to never ever do the same thing twice. If you liked the first record that’s great, if you like the second record that’s great, if you don’t like the second record because you liked the first record that’s too band.DH: It’s definitely completely different.TM: Completely different and the next one after this will be completely different than this. We will never repeat ourselves. We really don’t care what anyone else says about that. You know if our fans like us that’s great and if people don’t like us then that’s ok too because that’s the beauty of music if you like it then you get to listen to it, if you don’t then you can fuck off. Isn’t that the truth?DH: This is the truth.TM: Thank you.DH: If you could be a muffin what kind of muffin would you be?TM: A muffin?DH: Yeah a muffin.TM: I would be a blueberry muffin.DH: Why?TM: Because it’s my favorite kind and I would want everyone to eat me (laughs).DH: Banana nut is the best.DH: Banana nut is very good but blueberry is just… it’s like a warm spot in heart

DH: What are three things that you couldn’t live without?TM: Oxygen, water, and food.DH: Oh come on.TM: Hey you asked the question I just gave you an answer.DH: Fine.TM: You got to think about that kind of stuff (laughs).DH: Stop that.TM: (in a whispered voice into the mic) You’re going to have to better than that with me honey (laughs).DH: Who is one person throughout your life that you’ve looked up to the most?TM: My parents, my dad. I was born in Croatia and you we moved here from a different country and had nothing and my dad made a life here and he always told me that there’s nothing that can stop you from doing what you want and you know he helped me. He made my first guitar for me that I ever played. He made it from scratch, you know an electric guitar. We wired it together and cut the wood out and sanded it and painted it and it looks like a piece of shit but it plays amazingly.DH: Do you still have it?TM: I played it on the new record.DH: Oh really?TM: Yeah.DH: That is sweet.TM: Yeah, it’s awesome. So I’ve always looked up to my parents for their hard work and will power and their teaching me that you create your own reality. There’s nothing that anyone can tell you yes or no.DH: If you could take time off and travel anywhere in the world where would you go?TM: I would go right back to South Africa. I was there for a month when we made this record and it wasn’t long enough. It was the most incredible place I’ve been to in my entire life and I’ve been everywhere.DH: If you could pick a song that you would say is anthem what would it be?TM: Stockholm Syndrome by Muse or The Fantasy by 30 Seconds To Mars.DH: That works.TM: Which is on the new record A Beautiful Lie which comes out August 30th.DH: Suggest one band that is somewhat unheard of for our readers to check out and why they’re worth checking out?TM: There’s a band that people may have heard of but they’re very small, that I think more people should hear about and they’re called The Secret Machines (Editor’s note: To check out The Secret Machines go to www.thesecretmachines.com). The Secret Machines are a band that I think not enough people know about but to be honest same with Muse (Editor’s note: To check out Muse go to www.muse.mu). This is a band that should be platinum but has only sold 300,000 records. Don’t download music! Buy music. Bands like Muse will cease to exist because we download music. Bands like 30 Seconds To Mars will cease to be because we download music. If you like our music and other bands music you have to buy it for them to stay alive. There’s nothing anyone can say to change that. We can not survive without your support.DH: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?TM: In 30 Seconds To Mars on tour playing small towns like Toledo and talking to cool chicks like you.DH: Good one.DH: If you were interviewing me what is one question you’d ask me?TM: (laughs) That’s a good one, if I was interviewing you.DH: Was that a smart ass comment or was that serious?
