Interesting that not only did the 60s have just 17 singles that sold above 947,000 copies, but that the 90s had the most number of records that sold more than that number. I've also used the year of chart entry for all the above, rather than include every year some of the singles were re-released. The only exception is Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" which sold over a million copies both in the 70s and the 90s. Also, these figures omit what is considered to be the world's second biggest selling single - Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" - but unfortunately it pre-dates the charts and there is no reliable sales data for it.
