Check out this brand new interview with Jacquie Lee!
The 17-year-old singer opens up to JJJ about her new EP Broken Ones and its first single of the same name.
“The song is a voice for anyone who needs it,” Jacquie tells us. “A song that reminds you that you’re never truly alone. We are all scared. I chose it as the title track because it had depth to it. I want people to know what kind of artist I am and what I stand for.”
As for the EP as a whole, she hopes the biggest takeaway is that fans know “they shouldn’t fear or run from their feelings.” Check out the rest of our interview:

JustJaredJr.com: Which song on the EP is the most personal to you and why?
Jacquie Lee: “Drown Me In Your Love” – because it was the result of me being sad at night at a little keyboard wanting to feel something.
JJJ: What is your songwriting process usually like? Take us through a typical session.
JL: Haha! It’s madness. Every good artist is a tortured soul. I usually write at night and start by playing some basic chords on a keyboard and then just vibe. Lyrics come easy because inspiration comes easy these days. There is always something on my mind.

JustJaredJr.com Interview – Jacquie Lee
JJJ: How did the concept behind the music video come about?
JL: I wanted it to be simple but powerful. Just like the song. I had a vision and an amazing director (Max Nichols).
JJJ: What made you choose to cover “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”?
JL: I wanted to take an obvious song that people saw one way and completely change their perspective, make them think, throw a curveball. The lyrics to the song I actually interpreted as sad so that’s how I thought it should be sung.
JJJ: Which songs are currently on repeat on your personal playlist?
JL: “Please please please let me get what I want” – The Smiths
“Creep” – Radiohead
“Across the Universe” – Beatles
“Wild Horses” – Rolling Stones
JJJ: We hear you’re a big Ed Sheeran fan. What are you favorite lyrics of his?
JL: “Give me love like never before, cause lately I’ve been craving more.”
JJJ: Looking back on The Voice experience, what is your fondest memory?
JL: After my performance of “Cry Baby,” Christina [Aguilera] jumped on stage with me to give me a hug on live television. That was pretty cool.
JJJ: What’s the best advice you could give for juggling school and a career?
JL: Time management is everything. Keep your head up there is always coffee.
