adjectives, or other adverbs. Modify means to add to or change the meaning of a

Spotting an Adverb end in "-ly" (副词后面加 ly )

Adverbs Are Intensifiers(强调语- 强调动词,形容词或是另一个副词)
One function of adverbs is to intensify the meaning of the word it is modifying. It does this by either putting more or less emphasis on the word, amplifying the meaning of the word, or to toning down the feeling of the word.
Here are some sentences with the emphasizing adverb underlined:
I really don’t care. (我确实不管——强调不管的程度)
He literally wrecked his car. (简直就是他毁坏他的车——强调是他弄坏的)
You simply don’t understand.
I so want to go to the concert.
Sentences that amplify would be like:(放大性的强调)
She completely rejected his proposal. (她完全拒绝他的求婚)
I so want that new toy. (我是那么地需要那个新的玩具)
He completely understands me. (他彻底的明白我)
I absolutely refuse to stay here any longer.(我绝对拒绝在这里留长久一点
