One of the Mapogo male*s of the Sabi Sands Reserve.
2009 年8月15日一头mapogo雄狮在Sabi Sands

I*m bowing to public pressure here..
This is one of the Mapogo Male Lions that is currently the scurge of the Sabi Sands area. According to the Rangers, this group of males has killed at least 22 other lions in the area, mostly cubs belonging to other males but not all.
Male lions often kill cubs fathered by other males in order to preserve their own blood line after they take over a pride.
These guys are different, rather than take over one pride they have been moving about together, mating with any females they come across and then moving on. How 21st Century of them.
This is at 210mm on my 80-210mm lens, not a crop. This guy was following scent markings to his mates and came up right against the landrover.. the next shot in the series is a wobbly shot as I zoomed out to 80mm and then jumped when I realised just how close he was. Luckily, the animals don*t care about the landrovers and as long as the humans don*t break the line of the vehicle by standing up, they don*t perceive us as being separate from the truck.
I have some more stories related to these boys for upcoming pics..
这是其中一个Mapogo雄狮,根据统计在该地区这群雄狮杀死了至少22只其它狮子,,,,,,
