Q: You said that Unbroken interests you because it talks about learning to forgive.
What is your own relationship with forgiveness?
A: Mine is complicated [laughs] and for some time I have been pondering this issue,
Because I wondered if I would be able to forgive someone who has abused me.
I think that I could reach an agreement with this idea, but if someone were to abuse my children I do not think that I would be able to forgive. It would be slightly greater than my strength.
I feel that there is a level that opens the door to our ability to forgive through justice.
I*ve met many victims of rape, abuse, and for them I believe that there must be justice.
You cannot ask them simply to forgive because they have felt much hatred and pain.
Like soldiers returning from war with post-traumatic syndrome, they are also full of rage and violence.
You cannot give them pats on the back and tell them that they must overcome it all and forgive
those who caused them so much damage. You have to teach them that a cure is possible and that it
will happen when they see a real sense of Justice. Forgiveness needs to go hand in hand with justice.

Q: In Unbroken We see a strong mother, a mother figure who teaches with love and constancy to his son. What have you learned from it? Has it changed your relationship with your children?
A: Magdalena is fantastic. She is a mother who teaches with love but is hard. She was a great influence on her children
and Zamperini they were a very close-knit family. I have not learned much from her, however it reaffirmed my feelings
toward a united family that will give you support and security. I grew up in a broken family that looked nothing like,
but I had a wonderful mother.

Q: In your travels, when you go to refugee camps you see the worst of human beings, the consequences of barbarism...
A: Yes, I see the worst, but I also know that there are people like Louis in the world who cares about others. Everything we see in the news leads us to lose faith in the human being, in his mind and ended up getting angry about what is happening in the world. The message is beautiful.. Louis did not say it was fantastic , ctually he said the opposite: how a normal person, a person of not much , could do exceptional things . He made decisions that led to very dark places in his life and was able to overcome, to rise, to start over
and become a better person. I marvel to hear his children talk about their father , praise him with affection, respect, love, because he was a good father , a good son and a good friend , a great human being . With all the darkness we have in the world, we must help each other and take a step forward because
it is the only way to end hatred and violence.
(路易真是给予她良多)
Q: What is religion to you?
A: We can see it all around us the negativity that caused when religion is used as a tool of aggression.I tried to approach the faith of Louis because it was important to represent it in the film, but it is a universal religion.Whatever and whoever is meaningful for you. I am also interested in the idea of prayer, to see God at dawn and dusk ,to question God when a mother is on her knees because her son is away at war . All those times we identify with andif we try to find common values within the faith all be in a better place.
Q: Directing a movie is a big risk, why you decided to venture to run it?
A: I did not face this project in part to help my career. I went as a human being, excited to tell this story. feel a great responsibility to Louis because I *m telling his life story, because it is real and that weighs on me.
Q: Have you had a model to follow in your life?
A: I had a very strong mother. We used to joke that her name was Marcheline Marshmallow, because she was the world*s softest woman. Never yell or insult anyone, always laughing. She had a strong heart and great integrity and unwavering faith. It was a lovely, extraordinaryand now my daughters are very strong, I live with three very strong women woman.
Q: Do you feel that young actresses in Hollywood now that are beginning you have more pressure in terms of their physical?
A: When I started in the nineties, being thin or not was not an issue, especially since there was not this obsession
with being a celebrity as there is now . The new generations have the opportunity to develop into different characters
and they find fame and identified with a particular image. It is much harder to develop a great acting record and when
they are cruelly launch to stardom. I do not think I would choose to be an actress if I were to start today.
Q: And what do you think the obsession that exists today with the weight of the actresses?
A: I don*t know what to say. I have never paid attention to anything like that. I believe that since
the beginning of time women have had weight problems. I have chosen to ignore the criticisms
in a way or another. Everyone has to find their own comfort.
Q: You took his family to the filming in Australia...
A: It was very nice to have them on my side. I eased the difficult moments because
it was a complicated shoot. I can*t imagine I can travel to a place for several months
and not having my kids by my side.
Q: Being responsible for a large family is your best preparation as director?
A: [Laughs ] . It certainly helps me because when everyone has something to ask me I usually have
an answer. But nothing prepares one to be a director. I had to learn a lot about
lighting, special effects, realization.
Q: How to combat stress? Do you exercise? Take a bath?
No. I have not given been by myself a single room in a while. Every time I prepare a bath
a child is running into the bathing tub and end with me. I have not had a single moment by myself in a while. [Laughs ] .
Q: Do you identify with the public image that the public has been created for you and Brad?
A: I do not know who that public person is, because I do not pay attention to what is said about us.
We all have someone in our lives who knows us well. In my case, I*m happy with Brad because he
and I are very good friends. I like being with someone who knows me so deeply.
Q: Have you ever felt guilty of having a privileged life?
A: No, because I do not feel sorry for people. You give to others because you has received more.I do not build a school because I feel I have to. I build a school because I am thrilled that we givethem a future for girls in Afghanistan. I cannot wait to see how they change. I am part of that group of people dedicated to give strength to those human beings who believe. And this is how I would likeothers to see the world. I do not want to do things out of charity or pity.
Q: You think your past conduct as a sexual woman obviously is why you are interested in women suffering
and abuse? Being in London to discuss and work against the rape of women in the conflict.
A: Not in a conscious way. I grew up as a woman who was able to recognize her sexuality, because
I think it is important to embrace and understand the power that is within us. Thus sexuality becomes good.
I have never been in the situation where these women are poor and I cannot even imagine.
Q: Have you ever thought about how your children will be when they are teenagers?
A: I *m preparing for that, trying to pretend that they will not do anything bad, because
whatever they do discover. I want to be their best friend, be honest with them and hope they will alwaystalk to me when they have problems. That*s the best I can do. Being close to them, and when they reachthat point where they do not want to talk to me, I want them to know that I will always love them. But those years are tough for everyone.
Q: Who is stricter between you and Brad?
A: Me.. . Brad is more lenient with girls and I with boys. We cannot imagine why. Maybe because I know women.
(谁比较严格,,ME)
Q: It*s Freudian...
A: Yes . The girls will do whatever they want with their father and he is delighted.
Q: Do you consider yourself a feminist?
A: I never think in those terms. I love and support women, care for them deeply, but I am not
in any way against men. I am a woman and women need to work together, help each other.
I certainly am in favor of women when it comes to defending them.
Q: How do you choose your wardrobe? It is never wrong?.
A: If I *m honest , I have no idea how I choose , I just take what *s in the closet .
Q: Do you pay no attention to the clothing?
A: I wear what I like and if I think it is comfortable for everyday circumstances.
But truth is I do not pay much attention to my look.
