The Fall 2014 freshman class reflects the recent trend of increased interest in UC Irvine as a first-choice campus. Accommodating such a large incoming freshman class presents unique challenges. To manage this year’s housing demand, Student Housing will assign freshmen to both the residence halls and to other on-campus communities--apartments and freshman theme houses. Regardless of which community you are assigned to, you will be living with other freshmen in furnished accommodations, and there will be a residence life program tailored to the needs of first year students.
The options to consider when noting your preferences are:
Residence Halls — Mesa Court or Middle Earth— 45-80 residents per hall, single, double, or triple occupancy rooms. Mandatory meal plan included.
Arroyo Vista Freshman Theme houses — 24-32 residents per house, double occupancy rooms, full kitchens and common dining and living rooms, as well as study rooms, located on the east campus with free shuttle bus service to the campus core. No meal plan.
Campus Village — 4 students per apartment, double occupancy rooms, full kitchens and living room space, located on the west side of the campus core. No meal plan.
Camino del Sol Apartments—2, 3, and 4 bedroom furnished townhouse apartments, single occupancy rooms, full kitchens and living room space, located on the east campus with free shuttle bus service to the campus core. No meal plan.
