"So the Sarnak had their own little bit ofdrama going on while they found their whole race under attack. And actually Chardok,where they live, has actually been under quite a transformation too, now beingmuch more of a defensive position than it was previously. These are people atwar and people at war do extreme things. We won't get into the specifics of howit happened just yet, but there's a lot of undiscovered magic and undiscoveredartifacts that were unearthed by the Rending and the Shattering. Some of thesemagics got put to use in ways that were probably of very noble intent butdidn't necessarily have the greatest end results. What you're going to see istwo distinct kinds of Sarnak. There are the Sarnak NPC's that people are veryfamiliar with that still live in Chardok. Then you've got this new kind of Sarnakthat is essentially developed for the express purpose of fighting off the Iksarin a move of desperation for the survival of the race and what happened is theIksar forces essentially went on an extermination misson. These guys became themost hunted people ever because they actually did have the power to dosignificant harm to the Iksar Empire. So what you ended up with was a certaingroup of them being hidden away. They're tucked off in a place where they can'tbe found and the idea is that the Iksar Empire is assuming right now that allof the Sarnaks who are now a threat to them are dead. So as a brand new Sarnakyou come into this world and you are one of the ones that is destined to be thepowerful ones to go back against the Iksar Empire and you are doing this fromthe safety of growing up in the islands of Timorous Deep."

Dissimilar to other races, the first types of Sarnaks werenot created and placed on Norrath by a god, but were innovated through mortalwork, possibly an Iksar/dragon hybrid created by Atrebe Sathir; that species isnow known as the Di'zok (?) and the Sarnaks of Gorowyn are alarger, more cunning species. Female Sarnaks are much larger than male Sarnaks.The Sarnaks are the only one of the current playable races in which worn armorappears the same on either gender. Gorowyn, in the islands called the TimorousDeep off Kunark, is their capital city and ispredominantly Sarnak.
