2:11am CAT - For preservation of this event, the first hour is almost continuous live footage. No cuts except for one short one at about 36 minutes in when my recorder shut down and I had to restart it. Also included are some clips of roars heard later after the fight seemed to be over. During the hours prior to the fight sounds in this video, lions were heard roaring at varying distances. Some close and some very far off. Much like any other night when we hear lions roaring. There were occasional Kudu alarms heard as well. Then things went silent for a while before all hell broke loose. Lions believed to be involved were the Majingilane Males (4) and the Mapogo Males (5). Outcome: 1 Mapogo believed killed and one badly injured but survived. Majingilanes came out uninjured. Hi, this occurred in the middle of their night. A few hours later when they went out on the early am drive, the lions were gone. They had gone into the Robson property which is privately owned and the rangers could not follow. One report did say a blood spot was found but no carcass. Two of the 5 surviving Mapogo males were missing after this incident. One finally reappeared after a few weeks with substantial injuries but he survived. The other one was never seen again. :(

Welcome. Khimbini did think all 5 Mapogos were probably involved. Most likely lions were fighting & moving in all directions. Since no one witnessed the incident.. I guess we shall never know exactly what happened or who encountered who. All we know is that 5 Mapogos were seen heading that direction and only 3 came back the next day. It will remain a mystery. Makulu has a distinct roar and Khimbini thought he heard him on the recording so I have to assume he was there somewhere.
Khimbini shared this after listening to the recording July 9: "All 5 members of Mapogo were left moving south- east from Idube lodge and this morning 3 were found far north in front of Exeter camp high mobile west as if going some where purposeful or away from something. Among i think i can recognize a roar of the Makhulu Mapogo (the older Man) who is with the Mr T and one other in the west. They certainly look unhappy I think they were involve in this. As where is the other two is mystery."

Karin only witnessed the fight that occurred at Nkorho on June 8th. She was not at Elephant Plains. And I will be polite... I never said it was a certainty that it was the 5 Mapogos versus the 4 Majingilanes. This is what I said: "Lions believed to be involved were the Majingilane Males (4) and the Mapogo Males (5). Outcome: 1 Mapogo believed killed and one badly injured but survived. Majingilanes came out uninjured." Key word is "believed".
