He is a handsome boy and his eyes shine with wisdom.I have known him since Senior One. We are both interested in English. Once both of us entered for an English contest. How eagerly I expected to get a prize! On hearing that I had failed in the contest, I could hardly hold back my tears. “What a pity!” I murmured to myself over and over again. I felt that the world had become cold and everyone seemed to be laughing at me.I love English and have gone all out to study it since my first day in the junior middle school. I have even dreamed of entering a foreign language institute. So I felt very sad. Just at this time, I received a short letter in English, saying, “Failure is the mother of success. Cheer up! Don't lose confidence. Keep on your study and you will succeed!” I knew it was from that good friend of mine. These words encouraged me greatly. I forgot all my sadness. From then on, I studied English even harder. In the following English contest, I got the first prize. Of course, he was delighted with my success. I am very lucky to have such a good friend. I'm thankful to him for his help.【写法指要】作者由失败到成功走过一段曲折的路。有过失败的人才知道胜利的价值。作者把自己的成功归功于自己一位好朋友的鼓励。所以,他对自己的朋友十分感激并写了此文。文章由失败、挫折写到鼓励、帮助,再到获奖,顺理成章。

范文五:My 18th birthday is approaching and during my 18 years’ growth, there are masses of people who have extended their sincere help to me. Among them, the one that I am most grateful to is my English teacher in junior high school—Cherry. I thank Cherry most because she taught me English and helped me to lay a solid foundation of the language. She helped me with my exams as well as my oral English. She is really a dedicated teacher. What’s more, I thank Cherry for her positive influence on me. She is always a gentle woman, optimistic and always smiling while talking to us. What impresses me most is her elegance in dealing with everything. That quality is just what I want to learn from her. I thank Cherry for the excellent model she has set for me. Last but not least, Cherry is, for me, a good friend rather than a mere teacher. She encourages me when I lose heart, gives me advice when I make choices and warns me when I feel proud. She shares with me her experiences and exchanges feelings with me. I’ve learnt wisdom from her in both learning and living. As you can see, Cherry is for me an English teacher and far more than a teacher. I thank her for all the endeavor she make to teach me and all her positive impacts on me. That’s why she is the one I thank most. 【写法指要】作者分三个层次叙述了为何感激该老师,内容充实,语言到位精辟,很值得我们学习。但缺点也是只是进行了议论,缺少通过具体的事例来说明。

范文六: There are people who run into your life and then pass like strangers. But one person who has impressed me a lot will always remind me of the right attitude to life. He is called Nathan, the very person I want to thank. He made me believe that I had been trusted. Once, the teacher assigned me a task to do. But when I finished(accomplished) it, he wasn’t satisfied with it at all. He criticized me, saying that I was not being serious about it. But it was not the truth. No one believed me that I had done it heart and soul. Then Nathan came to me, saying that he trusted me, with a smile on his face. He told me that such a situation was led by different point views caused by generation gap, instead of someone’s fault, which made me feel much better and he brought me out of sadness. It was just his smile, words and casual attitude to people’s comment that made me realize that we are living our own life, and then why we shall care for others’ faulty views? Nathan is such a person, kind, friendly and helpful. He has introduced me to a new way of life with more freedom, warmth, trust and hope. Thank you, Nathan!【写法指要】该作者通过具体的事例进行了夹叙夹议,很好的完成了题目的要求,而且语言上也是值得大家学习的。
