Super Bowl pregame show stars Phillip Phillips and The Band Perry
The NFL has announced its lineup for the Super Bowl pregame show.
"American Idol" victor Phillip Phillips and country music act The Band Perry will play the show on Feb. 2. Their appearances will be filmed at the NFL Tailgate Party, hosted by Meadowlands Racetrack near MetLife Stadium.

Singers from the Broadway musicals "Jersey Boys" and "Rock of Ages" will also perform at the party.
The NFL also says Phillips will debut a new song at the tailgate. Segments of his and The Band Perry's performances will be broadcast before the Super Bowl.

American Idol" season 11 winner Phillip Phillips -- whose "Home" became the anthem of the 2012 Olympics -- is also on tap to perform at the NFL Tailgate part, debuting a brand new song.
Each of the aforementioned performances will be air live on Fox Super Bowl Sunday, as announced on Wednesday (Jan. 22).

Likewise, Phillips has an equally astounding career, even in its infancy. Upon being crowned the "Idol" winner in 2012, he has gone on to sell millions of records, including his breakout hit "Home." Last year, he also served as the opener for John Mayer and Matchbox Twenty, furthering his fan base and sales milestones.
Later this year, the singer-songwriter will embark on his first-ever solo headlining Canadian tour. Kicking off on March 8 at the Dartmouth Sportsplex in Halifax/Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Phillips will criss-cross the northern country on a slew of dates.
“At first it was terrifying to share all my songs, but now we’re at the point where the crowd’s singing along—even to the ones that aren’t the singles—which is amazing to see,” Phillips shares of begin able to bring his own original music to a live setting, as previously reported. “We just go out there and jam out and try to make it different and exciting, instead of playing the songs exactly how they sound on the album. It’s all about real musicians playing real music that we’re passionate about and just having a good time, and hopefully we’re giving the crowd a good time too.”

Now, for music lovers, there's another reason to tune in to the Super Bowl.
While Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers will cover halftime, American Idol Season 11 alum Phillip Phillips and country group The Band Perry will hold court during the Super Bowl XLVIII pregame show in East Rutherford, N.J.
Cast members from the Broadway musicals Jersey Boys and Rock of Ages perform at the NFL Tailgate Party. Opera singer Renee Fleming will have the honor of singing the national anthem.
Parts of the pre-telecast show will be aired on Fox.

The league announced on Wednesday that American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips and The Band Perry will be performing.
Phillips had a quadruple-platinum single, “Home,” in 2012, while The Band Perry has a quadruple-platinum song of their own, “If I Die Young.”
In addition to the performances by Phillips and The Band Perry during the Super Bowl pre-game show, the cast of the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical Jersey Boys and the cast of the musical Rock of Ages will perform at the NFL Tailgate Party.
With the close proximity to New York City, it would only make sense for the NFL to bring Broadway to East Rutherford, New Jersey for the big game.
The pregame show and Super Bowl XLVIII will be broadcast worldwide.
