Mentored by Blake Shelton on The Voice, the season 4 winner, Danielle Bradbery has stormed onto the scene with her beautiful debut single The Heart Of Dixie and follows up with an absolute cracker of an album. Look out, folks. The new girl in town is most definitely here to stay!
Opening the album is the incredibly fun and feel good Young In America. This is a track that will leave all us UK based country music fans wishing we were in the States, so we are guaranteed to be living vicariously through this song every time we listen to it.The vocals that Danielle gives on the power ballad I Will Never Forget You will haunt you and you will be left wondering how she does it, aged just 17! Of course, being so young there are some beautiful tracks that fit the perception of a teenage girl. That being said, they still would not alienate the older male listener, which is a hard task! Talk About Love demonstrates this perfectly and captures Danielle’s youth with innocent and gorgeous lyrics but has a melody that is undeniably mature. The album has a real mixture of styles with Daughter of a Workin’ Man taking it back, old school style and Dance Hall creating imagery in the listeners head of a simpler kind of love. Both tracks are very different, though similar in their reminiscent feel. The album closes with the powerful My Day, and couldn’t be more fitting. Penned by the incredibly talented Mallary Hope, it seems a fitting song for Danielle since she has burst into the industry and she gives such a believable rendition that will no doubt inspire the masses to follow their dreams too.
Overall: With such a mature sound to her voice and killer country melodies, it’s amazing Danielle Bradbery is so young. This album has managed to capture just the right balance in youth and maturity in order to appeal to all listeners. Don’t be fooled by what you may see as perhaps just another young wannabe, this girl has so much talent that you would be a fool to miss out on!
UKCM Rating: 10/10
