Section : CFX-Mesh Release Notes
Inflation Viewing
Several options have been added to improve the viewing of inflated elements, including options which allow
the prism elements to be viewed directly.
Inflation Extended Layer Growth
The First Layer Thickness option for Inflation has now been extended so that you can continue to add inflation
layers beyond the point where the prism elements have reach unit aspect ratio. Subsequent layers of prisms are
added at unit aspect ratio until the full Number of Inflated Layers is reached.
Body and Part Suppression for Meshing
In previous releases, Body and Part Suppression only affected which bodies were displayed in the Model View.
Regardless of the suppression state, all bodies were included in the mesh and were available for selection. In this
release, suppressed Bodies and Parts are excluded from the mesh and from selection. This allows you to generate
separate meshes for different bodies so that different global settings can be applied to each. It also makes selection
of specific bodies and faces easier for multiple body geometries.
Note that if you open a CFX-Mesh database from a previous release in CFX-Mesh 9.0 which has Bodies or Parts
suppressed, the state of these Bodies and Parts will be set to unsuppressed in CFX-Mesh 9.0, to ensure that the
mesh contains the same Bodies as it would have done in previous releases.
Parallel Meshing
CFX-Mesh now allows you to use multiple processors on the same machine to generate the mesh. This speeds
up mesh generation for large meshes, and also allows the creation of larger meshes than could be generated
on a single processor.
Point Selection
The selection of points for Controls and for specifying the rotation axis for a Periodic Pair has been extended.
You can now select points anywhere on the model faces as well as selecting a model vertex or entering coordinates.
Re-initialize Database
You can now re-initialize a database (“Clear Settings”) so that it contains just the default settings. This allows you
to begin setting up your mesh from scratch again, without requiring the time taken for the geometry to be re-
read.
Fewer Mouse Clicks for Selection
To minimize the number of mouse clicks required to select a Location for any CFX-Mesh Model feature, the
Location selection is now made active when you first create that feature (e.g. Inflated Boundary, Preview Group,
Composite 2D Region). For example, this means that you can create a new Inflated Boundary and then immediately
click in Model View to select the faces for it, without having to first activate the Location selection by clicking in
the Details View.
In general, if you select an object in the Tree View, the Location selection for the first item which does not already
contain a valid selection is activated.
