If you think you've come to know whatto expect from Colbie Caillat, think again. New single Hold On, premiering atUSATODAY, signals new directions for theCaliforniasinger-songwriter.
Co-written and produced by Ryan Tedder, Hold On— which will beavailable for digital download Tuesday — begins with keyboard drones beforesettling into a propulsive, almost march-like groove. The song's multiple vocaltracks offer listeners a completely new context in which to hear Caillat'svoice.

SONG OF THE WEEK: 'Hold On'
Hold On may be a departure for the singer ofBubbly and Fallin' for You, but "we're getting a good reaction from people," says Caillat, 28. "It's always good to grow as an artist.
"I like that when I sing it, I feel rad — 'rad' is my word right now. The production that Ryan used, the second the music comes on, I get in the moment. It makes me come alive, and it makes me want to perform."
Caillat will perform Hold On on Live! With Kelly and Michael Nov. 29.

Caillat previously worked with Tedder on her 2011 album All of You. "He has this energy," she says. "He's so excited about music and production and writing. It's never boring in a session, or in a conversation, with him. He's really smart, really talented, fascinating. You know whatever you do when you're working together that it's going to come out amazing."
As the lead single for her next album, Caillat says, Hold On "lets people know that there aren't any boundaries."
Caillat also has recorded several songs with Babyface for the still-untitled album.
"He's one of my favorite producers," she says. "He can make any style production he wants. He's done Boyz II Men and all these R&B records, then he has worked with Barbra Streisand and Ariana Grande. Now, he's working with me, where we have one song that sounds like it could be played in Nashville, with a light banjo, but then the next song is kind of R&B. Another song is a straight-up ballad, one vocal with acoustic guitar and piano. He doesn't put himself in a box. He can challenge himself and produce any style."

新歌HOLD ON 和BUBBLY&FALLIN’ FOR YOU的风格不一样 但COCO认为“新歌会得到很好的反应，而（改变风格）对于艺人来说是一次很好的经历”。
COCO说新专依旧有和Tedder合作（ALL OF YOU合作过的），并称赞和Tedder合作很棒。新专也和R&B制作人BABYFACE有合作，COCO认为他能很好地把握歌曲的风格，而且并不仅仅局限于某一处。

嗯 顺便说一下听完歌的感觉 说真的 很惊艳 特别是是ei音的那几段 而且这次的伴奏配合起来也很棒 虽然之前就很怀疑COCO高音的问题 但听到了开头的那几段 感觉真的好了很多 虽然部分高音唱不上 总的来说还是很抓耳 但个人认为高潮部分不如开头好听 期待专辑和LIVE~~
