When Samantha Jade returned to the studio after her seven-year relationship with Swedish music producer Christian Nilsson ended this year, she channelled her heartbreak into new single Soldier.
The 26-year-old siren, who teamed with her hit maker mates DNA on the song, said she trusted them to help her realise the revealing track which is released tomorrow.
Nilsson and Jade broke up because of the strains of maintaining the long-distance relationship they started when she was a teenager pursuing her big musical break the first time around.
"I was in the middle of getting through (the break-up) and I'm still not over it," she said.
"I was so sad and I wish someone had fought harder for me.
"I wish it had been The Notebook, we built a house and waited 10 years for each other.
"So when the (DNA) boys asked me what I wanted to write about, I told them how I was feeling and we turned that into lyrics."
