众所周知，FonePad的Root工作是由XDA的网友完成的。最新的3.2.5系统似乎已经root了，见http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250124&page=115 的1134楼和1141楼。
如果正在使用的系统没有root，那么放心升级好了。
如果正在使用的系统已经root，他们建议先刷回对应的原厂系统。

Guys for those stuck in botto00's version this is how I switched to rooted 3.2.5
1- Backup user apps (you may use titanium backup for that) and flashplayer.apk from /system/app directory , backup internal storage.
2- Factory reset (maybe optional but it's cleaner way to do it)
3- Flash Asus original firmware 3.2.4 ( download at http://support.asus.com/ )
4- Get root through cydia Impactor, just drop su to xbin ( http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/ )
5- Squirrel away su following rfrazier method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...49465749412775 ) (Do not forget to thanks him!)
6- Run OTA update.
7- Restore SU (follow the second part of rfrazier's tutorial)
8- Reinstall flashplayer from saved apk, restore your files, apps , etc...
9- Your device now on rooted 3.2.5

给个详细点的说明。
首先，这里使用的是Cydia Impactor进行root，关于是否影响保修，请自行确认。如果觉得可以接受，再继续。
做些准备工作，下载以下文件：
（1）原厂3.2.4版的ROM，可在此处查找，选择“韧体”中的对应地区版本，约600M大小。http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=zh-cn&m=ASUS%20Fonepad&p=28&s=7&os=32&hashedid=iVYdp36AxYm7bMJ5
（2）cydia Impactor，下载地址 http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/
（3）minimal adb and fastboot installer，下载地址：http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
（4）了解下linux系统的shell，至少应该学会如何通过指令进入文件夹，其实很简单，就是用cd的命令，可以看看这个网页的示例部分，http://baike.soso.com/v61582616.htm
正式开始操作了。
1.备份原有的应用（可使用“钛备份”，在备份中可能遇到大型游戏打包时间较长的现象，请耐心等待），以及位于/system/app目录下的flashplayer.apk文件，把备份好的文件复制到电脑硬盘或者存储卡中。
2.恢复出厂设置
3.将原厂3.2.4ROM复制到外接存储卡中，刷系统，简易刷机流程如下：
（1）请将下载完成的ME371MG_all_CN_user_V3.2.4.raw 档案存放于SD(TF)存储卡上。
（2）关闭平版电源后，将SD(TF)存储卡插上ASUS FonePad 。
（3）按住（音量键＋）不要放掉，再按住（电源键），两个按键持续约3~5秒左右，系统会进入内建的刷机程序。
（4）接着请按（音量键－）不放再按（音量键＋）会进入刷机画面。
（5）使用（音量键－）或（音量键＋）上下选择操作选项，选择有SD DOWNLOAD开头的项目，会直接进入刷机程序。
（6）过程会使用大略5~6分钟左右，完成后会直接重新启动
4.这一步是对3.2.4系统进行root，也就是向系统中增加超级用户（su）：将平板连接到电脑，运行Cydia Impactor，选择默认的"drop su to xbin"即可。如果打不开这个软件，请关掉金山毒霸这类的东西
5.把su备份起来，使用的是rfrazier提供的方法，原帖地址如下：http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43858859&postcount=621&nocache=1&z=6549465749412775这一步很多人不会操作，说详细点：
（1）在fonepad上的开发者选项中打开USB调试，连接电脑
（2）在电脑的windows系统安装minimal adb and fastboot installer，安装后直接运行，会弹出cmd的命令行窗口
（3）在电脑输入“adb shell”（不带引号，别忘了回车），将进入到linux的命令行模式，这样你就可以在windows上，输入linux指令对fonepad进行操作了。
（4）输入下面的命令，注意这里不全是命令，以#开头的是提示性文字，不需要你输入：

chmod 06755 /system/usr/abcd/efgh
#使用cd命令进入到下面的busybox文件夹
/system/bin/busybox chattr +i /system/usr/abcd/efgh
mount -o remount,ro /system /system
# Double check attributes and permissions of efgh.
# Exit root, and try getting root with efgh.
exit
#使用cd命令进入到下面的abcd文件夹
/system/usr/abcd/efgh
# Done squirreling away a good su.

（5）su已经备份好了，可以在fonepad上检查并安装系统更新了
（6）重启机器，看看系统版本号，是3.2.5了
（7）现在把备份的su恢复进来。输入下面的命令：

(8)超级用户su已恢复了，意味着机器已root
6.安装钛备份，把之前备份的应用复制到机器自带存储中，用钛备份查找可用的备份文件，逐一恢复应用。需提醒的是，Google官方应用不建议恢复，最好重新下载安装，我的Google日历和Gmail采用恢复的方法，就不断地崩溃，只好恢复出厂设置重新安装，恢复出厂设置并没有解除root
7.如果未来希望解除root，那就再把fonepad连接电脑，用minimal adb and fastboot对平板进行操作，输入以下指令：
# After it is known to work, you can get rid of the squirrelled away su by
# changing its attributes, and removing. But, don't remove it until you are
# absolutely confident that you have a good su on your system. Indeed,
# you might just leave it there.
# Use adb and get root.
su
rm /system/usr/abcd/efgh
cd /system/usr
rmdir abcd
