X Factor 2013: Wannabes infuriated with “cruel new twist” ahead of Judges' Houses, but Gary Barlow loved it!

However, unbeknownst to the contestants, the judges were “given the power to replace any of the singers they had already picked” and Sharon immediately ditched two singers from the Overs category, but then sought the advice of her fellow judges, leaving everyone onstage confused.
An insider said, “Her contestants were jumping up and down as Gary and Louis came up with different ideas over who to boot out.
“But Nicole was unhappy with having to decide for Sharon.”
Another source remarked, “The two singers Sharon dumped walked off the stage in disbelief.
“They couldn't believe they'd been replaced at the last minute as they thought they had made it through.
“Emotions were running high, particularly for the contestants who secured then lost their judges' houses place. It was an unexpected twist.
“The changes meant all of the hopefuls were permanently on the edge of their seats, wondering if they would lose their place.
“The final decision rested with the judges and they agonised over who to send home.
“Nobody's place was secure until the very end.”
And it seems the audience then angered Sharon by booing her over her decision, prompting her to say, “How very dare you? How rude. How dare you do that to the ‘Mother'? You are so rude.”
However, Sharon revealed that she wasn't happy with the twist, commenting, “It's so bittersweet for me…
“I hate to turn away such talented people but there are only so many seats.
“It is really, really nerve-racking. You have got people's careers and lives in your hands.”
The show's presenter Dermot O'Leary said, “That was brutal,” but Gary evidently enjoyed the drama as he tweeted, “That was the most incredible and exciting X Factor session EVER!”
