There’s no vanity involved. Especially playing Kick-Ass – it’s just about being free and being able to take the mickey out of yourself … You’re dressed up in a wetsuit, in a gimp mask. The situation is too funny to be conscious of how you look.

Working with Kick-Ass 2 co-star Jim Carrey …
He’s like this raw energy that comes into the room that you just get completely high off. He’s incredible, he improvises all the time, keeps you on your toes and he’s really passionate about what he does. He created his look from the comic book and he had to get prosthetics on his face every morning for like two hours. He’s really dedicated.
The best thing about stunt work is …
When you can come out with skills, you’ve learnt something new or you challenge yourself. We did a lot of MMA [mixed martial arts] and boxing and jujitsu. I really loved all the jujitsu because it was so disciplined and complex.

When it comes to making films …
I never really had that moment when people are like, ”That’s when I knew I was going to be an actor.” It took me quite a long time to accept that I was an actor. When you fly into a country and they ask for your occupation, I never wanted to write ”actor” because it makes me sound like a right dick. It doesn’t seem like an occupation, it just seems like fun.
The biggest surprise I can give away about Kick-Ass 2 is …
At the end of any comic-book movie, just wait until the end of the credits. There’ll always be a little extended scene that will set you up for something else… A little secret, a little homage to all the Marvel movies.
If I could have a superpower it would be …
Time travel. I’m doing so much travelling right now I don’t even know where I am or what time zone it is.
