史琪特出生在肯塔基州干岭市（Dry Ridge），是家中七个子女中的长女。早年和贝蒂·杰克·戴维丝（Betty Jack Davis）组成戴维丝姐妹乐队（The Davis Sisters）。1953年8月2日，贝蒂·杰克·戴维丝车祸去世后，史琪特·戴维丝走上了她个人的演唱道路。史琪特·戴维丝一生共获得过5次格林美提名，并在1964，1965，1967和1972年4次荣获格莱美乡村最佳女歌手大奖。2004年9月19日史琪特·戴维丝因乳腺癌在纳什维尔去世，享年72岁。
