Tegan and Sara performed for almost an hour. The band wasn't promoted as an opening act but as a special guest. Tegan and Sara are a fantastic band and I believe many fans were just as excited to see them as they were to see Fun.

During the performance Tegan mentioned that they had performed in Cleveland a few years ago at a local high school. I'm assuming it was Lakewood auditorium, which is actually a nice venue for a show. (except they don't serve alcohol) They talked to the audience often and even commented on a fan's dance moves who everyone in the area had been watching. It was after 9:30 pm before the lights went down and Fun. took the stage.
I've been a fan of Nate Ruess for many years. He has a distinguished captivating voice. Years ago I saw Ruess with his band The Format at The Agora in Cleveland. The Format was a more mellow indie rock band. Seeing Ruess dance around stage last night at Jacob's Pavilion was much different than a performance with The Format. The voice sounds the same but everything else has changed.
Fun. opened the show with "Some Nights - Intro" which I thought was a perfect beginning. It might just be my favorite track off their second album even though it's just an intro. They were dressed in tuxedos only for this first song and when the stage went dark they quickly changed into different clothes. "One Foot" stands out as the most memorable song of the evening. The band seemed to transition from one song to the next quickly without much interruption. The set list included "The Gambler", "Stars", "Why Am I the One" and of course "We Are Young".

The stage was set with bright and colorful lighting with a screen the length of the stage behind the band. The screen showed different images throughout the night. My favorite was the concert footage imagery during the "Some Nights - Intro". Towards the end of the show balloons dropped from the rafters during a Rolling Stones cover.Ruess gave a huge shot out to the Grog Shop during the show. The band had played there back in 2010. He mentioned the venue and then asked the audience if they loved the Grog Shop, everyone cheered.
Some of the Fun. tracks might be a bit over played on the radio these days but Nate Ruess is a talented musician/songwriter who deserves the recognition that Fun. is receiving. They put on a great show with a very high entertainment level and solid performance.
