And smiling through the pain, Demi was soon showing the newcomers how its done.But Radar Online reported that there was a difficult moment for ex Disney star Demi who's father died aged 54 last month from cancer.
Contestants had been specifically told not to make mention of Patrick's death during filming but one young hopeful seemed to forget.
An insider told Radar: 'One kid got up on stage to sing and when the judges asked him about his motivation for singing he mentioned a family member that had recently died.
'He then voiced his condolences to Demi for just losing her father and she didn’t even respond. All the judges kind of froze and told him to sing.
'Instead of critiquing him or discussing his performance, all the judges just said ‘no’ and they basically rushed him off the stage.'
Despite the stressful moment, it seemed the new team was settling in well.

For season 3 of the hit Fox talent show, Simon Cowell chose to add Latin music star Paulina, 42, and Kelly, 32, to join old favourite Demi, 20.
Mexican Paulina and former Destiny's Child Kelly replace Britney Spears and LA Reid on the all-star panel.
Kelly had previously been a judge on the UK version of the show.
Yet Latin American superstar Paulina is entirely new to X Factor and hopes to use it as a platform to raise her profile in the US.
She is reportedly being paid $1.5 million.
It is the first year that alpha male Simon has been the only male judge.
And it seemed to be a winning combination with the girls looking happy and relaxed together and Simon far from intimidated by the unequal gender balance.
The new series of The X Factor begins on Fox on September 11th.
