It's just around the corner, and should be out next week: The big 1.3 update!
1.3 focusses mostly on multiplayer, and adds a huge new feature - persistent online server based worlds!
There is a new Mac based server app that has been submitted to the Mac App Store, and will also be available as a free download from this site. Anyone can download the app, start it up and have a world running on their Mac, then up to 32 players can connect to it at once. Windows and Linux versions of the server app are in the works too, but aren't quite ready yet.
The server app keeps track of your blockheads and items, and even continues running queued actions while you're away, just like in single player. And if you use the same username and connect from a different device, you can keep playing with the same blockheads.
You can play multiplayer without a server with up to 5 other players on your local WiFi. The Blockheads will also now support the auto-match feature in Game Center, though still limited to 2 players.
There are lots of other new features too, there is new multiplayer text chat, shop blocks and coins to trade with other players, new signs to display text, new beds, and new shelves which are similar to chests, but allow you to see the stored items. There are new shiny metal blocks to build with, that are also harder to destroy, so if you want to hide away and make it tricky for other players to get to you, you can. There are also new iron doors and trap doors which only you can use, as well as safes where you can store items that no other players can get to.
And there are still more features, you can now pinch to zoom all the way out to a map view, so you can see all the way from lava to space at once, and easily see where your blockheads and portals are… which is great, because you can now use time crystals to teleport any blockhead instantly to any portal.
And one last new thing: Treasure chests! Scattered throughout caves and buried under beaches, these golden chests contain anything from a few coins to golden ingots and even diamonds!
There are also a number of other smaller features and bug fixes but I won't go into too much detail. Multiplayer is now far more stable and lag-free than it used to be, and the bug that could cause world corruption in multiplayer is now fixed.
So sorry for the long wait, but it should be worth it! Unless there are any major problems with the review process, you can expect to see it next Thursday!
