I don't think that he's "fooling" anyone. He is a great singer/musician and has performed on stage pretty much all his life. But as someone who knows him in real life (he used to hang out with my kids a lot) he still has that awkward almost shy quality to him. Well, unless he was singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of his lungs while playing our piano. There is the on-stage Charlie..and the off-stage Charlie, like most performers.
