Nowadays numerous scientists in a country or in a large firm are continuously engaged indifferent researches. Under such circumstance, many new discoveries would be unveiledevery day. As for these scientific treasures, there is a claim arises. Some people arguethat the government or the corporation should share all its scientific discoveries with theworld. From my point of view, however, I can hardly stand in line with the claim. I'll supportmy standpoint with following aspects.Firstly, some scientific breakthroughs which can lead to tremendous technologicalprogress should not be shared. It is known to all that some scientific discoveries havegreatly changed our way of life. These findings can promote a rapid development indifferent industrial fields of a country. However, the findings that can breed criticalprogress in the areas like military industry or aeronautic and astronautic industry shouldbe held carefully by the government, because they may cause terrible or even devastatingconsequences to the country, For example, if American government had revealed thepivotal discovery in making nuclear bomb with other countries during the World War II, itrivals like Germany or Japan should have handled the key techniques. Then the evilwould have created the bomb before Americans and thus launched a bomb raid onanywhere of the world. If so, the consequence of the WWII would have totally changedand anyone of us shouldn't have today's life. Therefore, the government of a countryshould understand that some discoveries in science and technology are actually improperto share with other countries.Secondly, some other discoveries in science may cause a series of negative influence onthe movement and the corporation if they notify what they discovered to others. Somescientists are undertaking dangerous work and their discoveries would include somethingthat may threaten public's health and safety. If a research group of a biomedicalcorporation claimed to public that they had discovered a sort of lethal virus which couldn'tbe killed by any medical methods in existence, it would incur the extremely panic in thepublic. People around the world would worry about that the virus could threaten their livesif it was used in evil ways. Then they would protest against the corporation, and theirgovernments would also object to the government which the corporation belongs to. Theywould no longer buy any products of the firm. As a result, not only would the corporationsuffer from huge economic losses, its reputation would be totally torn apart into pieces. Therefore, a corporation or a government needs to keep low profile when it dig out a toxicbut useful thing.
Admittedly, the government or the corporation can share some discoveries with other countries which would not threaten themselves or cause public fears in the future even though others grasp the whole details. It sometimes can create a "win-win" consequence. For one thing, the government sharing these findings can help those undeveloped or developing countries to keep in progress, which in turn could raise the government's international fame. For another, these findings would not generate any threat to the government itself, for it would hold a further discovery.According to the discussion mentioned above, a conclusion can now be reached that the government or a corporation should not share everything it uncovers in science with the orld. Some peripheral or harmless discoveries could be announced to others, whereas the pivot which could raise groundbreaking progress or trigger unfavorable consequences should be totally shrouded.
