K.will: “My Original Idea for the ‘Please Don’t…’ MV Wasn’t Used”

K.will’s comeback song “Please Don’t…” has had an impressive start on the music charts, but upon its initial release it drew significant attention for the surprising twist ending to its music video. After being asked about how he came up with the concept for the MV, K.will sadly said, “I had a really great concept for the MV, but the director just brushed me off and said he had a better idea.”
K.will said the director had become a huge fan of the drama “Reply 1997” and that he was obsessed with it. He explained, “The director wouldn’t stop talking about ‘Reply 1997’, and when it became time to start filming my MV, he didn’t even show up to the set, so we couldn’t work at all!” When K.will attempted to call the director to find out where he was, the director said he was speaking with the producers and directors of “Reply 1997” to see if he could borrow any footage that was cut from the drama.

K.will then revealed that the director collected an enormous amount of deleted scenes from “Reply 1997” to edit together to use as the “Please Don’t…” MV. “The director was so proud when he told me what his idea was,” said K.will. He continued, “Apparently, the director used deleted scenes that were set during the approximately 6 year time skip after the main characters moved from Busan to Seoul.”

The scenes used for K.will’s MV detailed the character development of Yoon Yoon Jae (played by Seo In Guk) as he began to explore other relationship options after he cut off contact with Sung Shi Won (played by A Pink’s Jung Eunji). According to the staff members of “Reply 1997”, Yoon Yoon Jae’s relationship experimentation was encouraged by Kang Joon Hee, the character played by INFINITE’s Hoya. The producers of “Reply 1997” said these scenes were cut because Hoya became jealous.
