However, it was learned that Taufik, who does nothave a comfortable relationship with the Indonesian BadmintonAssociation (PBSI) is likely to move to Germany. The Malaysian team official made an offer to Taufik to play and residein Malaysia during the recently concluded Asian Cup BadmintonChampionships at the National Indoor Stadium in Singapore. Accordingto a source, Taufik rejected the Malaysian offer but is considering amove to Germany as the offer by a German badminton official, seems tobe more lucrative.Taufik's row with PBSI came about after his personal coach MulyoHandoyo was removed. But Taufik, who has said that Mulyo is like hisbrother and attributed his strength in the game to his coach, threatened to boycott the Indonesian team, unless PBSI reinstatedMulyo.PBSI then reinstated Mulyo but his stint will only be until the WorldChampionships scheduled for June 3-10 in Seville, Spain. The move to"import" Taufik has not gone down well with some badminton officialshere. A badminton official asked why do we need to hire foreignplayers as Malaysia is still a force in badminton."Taufik's record in recent times is not very impressive. He is beingbeaten frequently. "What guarantee is there that Taufik can win titlesfor Malaysia. In the Asian Cup, Taufik was beaten by Thailand'sBoonsak Polsana and South Korea's Lee Hyun-ll. Both shuttlers are also19-year-olds," said the official.
