WWE has announced the release of Kelly Kelly today via its official website.
Kelly, real name Barbara Blank, had been on a hiatus
from the company after taking time off earlier this year. Though she briefly
returned for a tour of Japan and a couple of episodes of Raw in late July to
early August, there has been no word on a full-time return for the Diva.
During her time off, Kelly had been pursuing opportunities outside of WWE
auspices such as club appearances, her own calendar and more. WWE generally
controls its talents’ outside bookings, but Kelly had been fielding offers
through her own agent.
Kelly joined WWE at the tender age of 18 and was immediately thrust onto
television on the ECW brand as an “exhibitionist”. The Diva eventually became an
in-ring talent and in 2011, she won her first and only Divas Championship.
Earlier this year she competed at WrestleMania along with Eve Torres, Beth
Phoenix and Maria Menounos.
Her last WWE appearance was on the August 6th episode of Raw.
