English Speech-Treasure What You HaveGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today my topic is TreasureWhat You Have.Suppose you get a chance of speech, just as I do; then you would write a script; you practice reading, a few times let’s say; and when the day comes, you would say, OOPS, my turn! Then you would stand up, go front, face the audience, do the recite-boring, dull, listless, with no meanings; when 3 minutes is up, you would say, Thank God it’s over!Such behavior seems common, but may you ask yourself, deep into your heart, that “Am I treasuring what I have? A golden opportunity of delivering a speech?”Last year, I should’ve asked that question to myself, when I stepped on the stage of Student Election. But I didn’t. Instead, I delivered the worst speech of my career. I got the fewest support of the audience. I failed. But guys, there’s no going back in history, and there’s no “should have” in life. What we have in store is: present. This speech of mine is revised 5 times, practiced for a whole week. I selected words, switched sentences, inserted and cut off paragraphs, and even, changed my topic. All in one goal: be persuasive. So guys, I am proud to say, I deserve a position right here, eyes straight to your eyes, announcing: Now I am treasuring what I have!Think of Yao Ming. He went through countless hardships, injuries and setbacks. But every time he went back to the court, he came up strong, he played solid, he battled. When he strikes and leads the Houston Rockets to one win and another, he is proving that, he is treasuring what he has, a superstar position in NBA league; a national hero and a symbol of Chinese people.Think of the Dallas Mavericks. They lost their all-star point-guard, Steve Nash; they lost their spiritual leader, Michael Finley; they lost their mentor, their inspiring coach, Don Nelson. When everyone thinks the Mavs are finished, they roared past almost every other team and hit a 60-22 record last season and went all the way to the NBA finals. And when we see the Mavs are even improving this season, surging for a 60-11 record and still winning games, we are shocked, we are forced to believe, a new dynasty, is emerging. For a Dallas team, we see that, however much is lost, the spirit of Mavericks basketball is never lost; the team chemistry is never lost; the style of winning, fighting, refusing to give up, is never lost. The desire and momentum for winning a championship, is never lost. And that is what they treasure.Boys and girls. Try to look into your true self, dig deep, and search for what you have now. Cherish it, treasure it, and make it work for you. No matter if it’s just a small opportunity or some kind of your unique spirit, or a mission you set, just make it work. Please, tune in and take your action!Thank you!

English Speech-Treasure What You HaveGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today the topic of my speechis "Treasure What You Have".Suppose you got a chance to speak, just as I do; then you would write a script, practise reading over and over again; and when the day came, you'd think: 'OOPS, my turn!' Then you would stand up,go to the front, face the audience, do the reciting, which mightappear dull and boring (listless一般是形容人用的, with no meanings言过其实了吧); when 3 minutes was up, you would say to yourself,'Thank God it’s over!'Such behavior seems common, but may you ask your own heart“Am Itreasuring what I have? A golden opportunity of delivering aspeech?”Last year, I should have asked myself that question when I steppedonto the stage of the Students' Election. But I didn’t. Instead,I delivered the worst speech of my life and consequently got theleast support from the audience. I failed. But guys, there’s no going back in history, and there’s no“should have” in life. What we have in control is: the present. This speech of mine is revised 5 times and took me a whole week topractise. I carefully selected my words, switched sentences around , inserted and cut off paragraphs, and even changed my topic. All of this is for one goal: to be persuasive. So guys, now I am proud to say that I deserve this opportunity right here. eyes straight to your eyes, I can tell you that now I am treasuring what I have!Think about Yao Ming. He went through countless hardships, injuries and setbacks. But every time he went back to the court, he came up strong, he played solid, he battled hard. When he strikes and leads the Houston Rockets to one victory after another, he is proving that, he is treasuring what he has, a superstar position in NBA league; a national hero and a most worthy representative of Chinese people.Think about the Dallas Mavericks. They lost their all-star point-guard, Steve Nash; they lost their spiritual leader, Michael Finley; they lost their mentor, their inspiring coach, Don Nelson. When everyone thinks that's the end of the Mavs, they roared past almost every other team and hit a 60-22 record last season and went all the way to the NBA finals. And when we see the Mavs are even improving this season, surging for a 60-11 record and still winning games, we are shocked, we are convinced and have to admit that a new dynasty is emerging. Whether it’s just a small opportunity or some kind of unique spirit of yours, or a mission you set, just make it work.I hope you could take this speech seriously and take your action!Thank you!我只是在原稿基础上做了不大的改动,方便你演说。其实很多句子我感觉很难改成英语式的表达,因为整体思路是中文式的。总体上说,表达太Chinese了,尤其是开头关于'what you would do if you got an opportunity to speak just as I do now'.

I meant no offence at all. I hope you don't mind my comments. If you do, feel free to ignore them. Thanks!
