COMING UP NEXT | Everyone is coupled up – including Robin and her returning crush (played by Michael Trucco) – but doom is in the air. “We’re calling October ‘Breakup Month,’” says executive producer Craig Thomas. “This is the month where some stuff went crazy in these relationships.” That carnage will pave the way for Barney and Robin’s future nuptials. The season premiere jumps further into that wedding day and shows the audience something “that I think will blow some people’s minds,” Thomas adds. Could it be a big, mother-related clue?! As for Marshall and Lily, they’ll have to figure out who’s trustworthy enough to take care of their little one.
TVLINE BONUS SPOILER | Remember how Robin wanted to see best man Ted on her big day? “I think you can tell from [Cobie Smulders'] performance at the end of our finale there was something important on her mind,” says Thomas. “We’re going to show you what that is. It isn’t just, ‘Does my veil look OK?’ There’s a real issue she wants to talk to Ted about that has great importance to the story.”
