Q: A lot of people have been zeroing in on how you’re growing and maturing. How do you feel about that? Avril: I think it’s very true that I’m growing up…I’ve gone through tones in the last few years in my career and learnt a lot and I’m really thankful and grateful for that. Q: What do you feel about your partnership with Chantal Kreviazuk for “Under My Skin”? Avril: It’s one of those things that kinda happened. We were friends and we just started writing together and we were having fun with it and it just led to us writing half a record together which was really cool. Q: Are you open to other musical directions? Avril: I’m not punk-rock firstly. My music is pop-rock. And as far as if my sound is gonna change, I don’t really know at this point what’s going to happen with my future records. Whatever happens, happens. I don’t really know. Q: You sang “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” which is a remake of the Bob Dylan hit, will we continue to see you doing remakes? Avril: I haven’t really thought about it. I choose that song because it was one of the first songs that I learnt on the guitar and I knew it when I was really young and I’ve always been a really big fan of Bob Dylan. Q: Any advice to young artists? Avril: To keep on trying. If you really believe in yourself, that will help a lot. Always go with your gut and do what you want to do. Don’t let other people tell you what to do! Q: Did you have an idol when you were younger? Avril: I don’t feel like I have an idol. One person I totally worshipped and tried to follow their career. I was inspired by my favorite bands though, just good music in general. The bands I listened to when growing up were like the Beatles and The Beach Boys and you know Blink182 and all that stuff when I grow older. Q: There was a quote from you saying that you don’t really want to grow up.. Avril: Well I am looking forward to turning 21 but it’s erm…I don’t really care…you know, whatever. It’s natural you grow up. There’s nothing you can do about it.
